- I've been spending a lot of time on understanding emotions + the brain. Did you know that in our brain we have a "seat of emotions"? It's called the Amygdala. What is the Amygdala? Its responosible for our emotions, survival instincts, and memory. It influences our behaviors and activities. It is concerned with emotions such as anger and jealousy, as well as drives hunger, thirst and sexual desire. The amygdala gland does not respond to sound, sight, or touch but ONLY releases emotional trauma through the sense of smell. It makes me think of Remy when he makes Anton Ego, the food critic, Ratatouille. Anton Ego takes a long sniff of his dish and instantly has a memory of when his mama used to make it for him. It was a happy memory. The smell took him back to his childhood. That's what our amygdala does!! Everything we have experienced is stored in the amygdala and only the sense of smell releases the emotion. We live in a society of emotional turmoil. More and more the evidence is accumulating that our emotional health can effect our physical body systems. Fear and trauma can produce conditioned emotional responses that unless released will not only hamper our ability to live and enjoy life fully but can also limit the ability of some body systems to function properly particularly the immune system. This is why I use oils. I use oils such as VALOR to encourage strength, Present Time to help keep me focused in the NOW, Joy to attract love and enhance self love. There are so many more! - Simple yet powerful words. It’s tough to accept what is when our feelings have been hurt but it really does just come down to making a decision of letting it go. There’s such beauty in releasing someone from our hold. I’ve been guilty of holding onto my right to be offended + keeping ones in my emotional prison camps. My husband has taught me so much in just letting it go + letting people be who they are. Now I stretch my wings + rise 🦅 above all of it. I learned early in my adulthood that I couldn’t control others. I could only control myself + my integrity. i love people for who they are + where they are in life. It really does feel good to let go + fly ❤️

Having an autoimmune disease can trigger so many issues + I was so sleep deprived that I would wake up in the morning in tears because I was so exhausted. I have a nightly routine of drinking a hot cup of Reishi mushroom elixir in almond milk. So yummy. I like to bathe at night so I take a nice long hot shower or bath + after I oil up with the Relaxation Massage oil. Diffusing is important to me so I make sure it’s filled up before I climb into bed. I also made a roller with cedarwood, lavender, orange, + vetiver. I roll it down my spine, chest, + wrists. I can feel my body relax + drift off. I also love Sacred Mountain. It’s not used as a sleep support but it works as one for me. It makes me feel still similar to a runners high. Im a much nicer person when I’m well rested. Giggle!

It also helps ease nervous tension and stress, balance the emotions, lift the spirit, and foster peace, well-being, and hope. It helps lower defenses that prevent individuals from being open and receptive to new ideas. Sounds wonderful, right?! There are several emotions Geranium supports but I want to talk about only one today. I want to talk about people pleasing. I think as women most of us struggle in this area. Why? Do we want to avoid bad feelings? Do we want something in return? Do we feel worthy when we do things for others? Is it because deep down inside we lack love for ourselves? Only you know. You’ll have to do some digging. You can diffuse Geranium but if you are working through emotions its best to apply a few drops and massage it over your heart constrictor. It’s right below your thymus. As your massaging it in, I want you to say the words “I am loved”. Tent your hands over your nose and inhale the oil as you say the words. The first time I tried this I felt so emotional. It was a challenge for me to get the words out. People pleasing can stem from childhood. - Meet some of my most used rollers. Tranquil rolled on my wrists, chest, + the back of neck right before bedtime. It smells dreamy + it takes the edge off from running all day in the streets. Breathe Again is fabulous. I wake up every morning with some kind of pressure in my sinus area. I roll it over my cheek bones, jawline, + the lower back of my head.... it opens everything up + I can breathe!!! It’s also great down your lungs in your back if your looking for lung support. Deep Relief. Exhaling!!! This one is a must for me. I roll it down the sides of my neck, the tops of my shoulders + around my shoulder blades every morning..... i think I need a new pillow. Before bedtime I roll it on the sides of my jaw to help with tension. Rutavala! Rutavala! It’s out of stock + I’m so glad I snagged a roller. It doesn’t smell good but it works. I use it sparingly for fear of running out. It works when I feel jumbled up inside. I keep them all in my 💼 🌿👩🏻

- Have you ever felt stuck in life? When we feel stuck we feel like we’re drowning in quicksand. We want to move forward but we can’t. We feel anxious, fearful, + overwhelmed. Why do we feel stuck? We feel stuck when we think we should be something we’re not. When we think life should be different than it is. Isn’t that powerful? Just sit in that. Let it soak in. Our minds want to push, control, and manipulate. We want to move and escape the quicksand because we want to feel secure. When we feel this way, its time to surrender. We can’t control life. We can’t control others. We can only notice what life bring us. When we are working with our emotions, application is important. The alarm point on our body is the sinus area. We can apply lemon to the center of our forehead. Massage the oil in and inhale. I have some steps to help you get unstuck. 1. Find a reason why its all perfect Perfect? How could this uncontrollable situation be perfect? It can be. Our mind will figure it out if we point it in that direction. Say to yourself, “This situation is perfect because….” + brainstorm 5 reasons why. See the truth in these reasons and transform your mindset. Look at those five reasons…...does it look different? 2. Put on a soundtrack Pick a favorite song and connect with the mood of that song. Play the song out loud or just think of it. Then apply the mood of the song to how you look and feel about a situation. How about “Eye of the Tiger". When I hear this song my mindset transforms! I feel on 🔥 I feel unstoppable! 3. Take Care of Yourself When we find ourselves in difficult situations, we most likely focus on how them, those other crazy people + how they are wrong. Bring your attention back to yourself. What do you need to do to act in alignment with our integrity? When we take care of our needs we start to feel a shift in our mindset. 4. Surrender, Completely If you feel like your swimming upstream, then this signals a need for surrender. Surrendering doesn’t mean we accept what’s happening, it means accepting reality. - Part of my “intentional living” was to make more time for myself. I haven’t made time for dry brushing + a soak in a long time but today’s the day!!!! Have you tried dry brushing? It’s a great way to stimulate the lymphatic system. I start at the bottoms of my feet + work my way up towards my heart + I do the same thing with my arms. As I brush I’m sweeping away dead skin cells, improving the appearance of my skin + supporting my digestion. You can shower after but if I have time, I like to soak + enjoy solitude.
