- Just recently I lost one of my favourite teachers due to brain cancer, in her sudden rush to hospice my mom told me that I should go and see her. That night I decided to go by myself and go see her so I signed into hospice and proceeded to walk in and there sat her younger brother. I then asked the gentleman “is this Mrs.J” and he stood and replied yes. I then told him that I was a student of hers at St. Mary’s and we continued to talk for a hour almost, I then sat next to Mrs.J and her brother announced that it was him and I sitting there with her and when I first walked into the room she was reaching for her head as in pain but once her brother told her that we were both there she just looked more at peace. Her younger brother Tim then showed me old photos of Mrs.J with him on her lap as a baby and we laughed about it and proceeded to look though photos of her and her three brothers which I learnt the he was the youngest of 4 and hated to be called the baby, he said his older sister Mrs.J took care of him buying him his first trombone and he then took that and continued to learn and play and Tim went the school to be a teacher and accomplished that and now teachers as a music teacher just like their mother who was also a teacher and the one older brother went on the be a priest. And I later on said my goodbyes and left. Tuesday October 16th I went to her funeral at St. Mary’s church and there was an amazing crowd of people, there was easily over 200 people, the whole church was full and people were standing all along the sides and all the way back to the doorway were my younger brother Tyler, younger sister Megan and myself stood. In the funeral the priest mentioned a student who went to see her in hospice and then also mentioned about another student who she use to give hammy-downs to and that student was great full beyond all belief and when the priest said that I started to cry, not only because it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard but because I’m the that student, both of them.. I am truly grateful to know such an amazing person, and I’m thankful she help build me into the man I am today. Thank you Mrs.J 🍁🍂
