Full disclosure: I woke up at 5 starving so had breakfast, plugged into my virtual gym, was dressed for a workout but then got a wicked headache, laid back down and fell asleep 😳 But, I knew that exercise makes me feel good both inside and out so knew I had to get it done after work. Was I tired? Yup! Was it perfect? Heck no! Did I want to throw in the towel? Yup! But, exercise has become a stress reliever, me time, a way to be in control of my own health. So changed into workout clothes, walked downstairs, put on the tv and pressed play. Moral of story is 1️⃣listen to your body 2️⃣be flexible (it’s ok to change it up) 3️⃣we all have the same amount of hours in a day and we are all busy. But, taking care of YOU is only 2% of your day and it doesn’t have to be hard or intense. Just take care of YOU! - One thing I hear from new/potential clients all the time when it comes to their nutrition and preparation is “I don’t have time”! Either it’s “I don’t have time to eat in the morning” or “I don’t have time to prepare meals for work” or that people don’t know HOW to meal prep or what foods are easy to do so with! I used to use my busy lifestyle as an excuse to put off meals or not eat enough and that is just BS! If you have goals, if you want to get strong, if you want to stay healthy you need to eat and you need to be prepared to do so in a way that you’re taking care of your body! Of course you don’t have to ever use supplements to reach your goals, but I have to say that on my busy days things like protein shakes, protein bars, and EASY snacks like trail mix, popcorn, apples and vegetables with nut butter are always my go to choices! My favorite protein sources for on the go and pre/post workout shakes are the @1upnutrition coconut ice cream whey (FAST digesting) protein with almond milk, the white chocolate peppermint whey, and the chocolate vegan protein! I also love my @questnutrition bars but if you’ve been following me for more than one day you’d know that😋 Even if you just take the time 1-2 days a week to prep a bunch of meals DO IT! And it doesn’t mean you have to make pretty, instagram worthy balanced meals but pop a protein source like chicken or turkey, a carb source like potatoes and some vegetables with olive oil and seasoning in the oven for 30 minutes and BOOM! Get some containers, get some baggies and put your trail mix, protein and veggies in and make it happen! By spending 1-2 hours 1-2 times a week prepping 6-8 meals and snacks, it saves me money, stress, time and worry and I am always prepared! This often leaves little to no time for me to just exist with myself. One of my #2018goals is to practice better self-care. As part of my #selfcare routine this year I want to constantly remind myself that I don’t have to do everything. It’s okay to take the time to discern when ‘yes’ is the right answer and be okay with saying ‘no’ when it isn’t. I also have to remember that I don’t have to please everyone. In fact it’s not even remotely possible for me to please everyone, but it is far too easy to get caught up in trying to do just that. At the end of the day, if I feel good about a decision I’ve made, as long as it’s not harmful to myself or others, I shouldn’t let someone else’s feelings sway me. - This is me at 9:30am today after an early morning workout, a shower, fresh clothes and some makeup. I felt so much better, happier and energetic all day! It was awesome, but honestly, it hasn't happened often since having my second.... . Mommas, can we talk self-care for a minute? I feel like everyone's posting about how it isn't selfish, it's necessary, and I know it sounds obvious but I have to be real for a second --- I STILL struggle with thinking it's selfish. . Working out. Quiet time for my 4-year-old. Making the kids wait for me to shower, change & put on some makeup. Spending any money on me instead of them. It's still super hard, even after almost 3 years of coaching other ladies how to take better care of themselves. Hey, you teach what you need to learn right?! I'm still on my journey, a work in progress. You see... . I grew up with the most amazing mom for the 16 years until God called her home. I felt like she was perfect. It wasn't until I grew up that I realized she never did anything for herself. I don't remember ever seeing her exercise regularly. Take herself for massages or pedicures. I don't remember my parents going on dates often or her pursuing hobbies until we were much, much older. . So I guess somehow I adopted the belief that doing nothing for myself is part of what would make me a good mom. Then when I became one and loved my little baby SO much, and didn't have a job aside from teaching yoga, he quickly became the center of my universe. I stopped doing anything for myself, showering, eating well, hanging out with my friends, going to hot yoga or even teaching it anymore, or much of anything. I began living exhausted, didn't leave my house much, and was running on coffee, no sleep and my son's leftovers. I did that for a really long time. Too long. . When I found these at-home workouts, joined a group of like-minded mommas and started eating better, I was a whole new woman within 2 weeks. I had more energy, felt stronger & more confident, I began to want things for myself again, I was more patient and joyful with my son, and my husband and I really began to reconnect. . I wish someone would've told me that running yourself into the

- This is me at 9:30am today after an early morning workout, a shower, fresh clothes and some makeup. I felt so much better, happier and energetic all day! It was awesome, but honestly, it hasn't happened often since having my second.... . Mommas, can we talk self-care for a minute? I feel like everyone's posting about how it isn't selfish, it's necessary, and I know it sounds obvious but I have to be real for a second --- I STILL struggle with thinking it's selfish. . Working out. Quiet time for my 4-year-old. Making the kids wait for me to shower, change & put on some makeup. Spending any money on me instead of them. It's still super hard, even after almost 3 years of coaching other ladies how to take better care of themselves. Hey, you teach what you need to learn right?! I'm still on my journey, a work in progress. You see... . I grew up with the most amazing mom for the 16 years until God called her home. I felt like she was perfect. It wasn't until I grew up that I realized she never did anything for herself. I don't remember ever seeing her exercise regularly. Take herself for massages or pedicures. I don't remember my parents going on dates often or her pursuing hobbies until we were much, much older. . So I guess somehow I adopted the belief that doing nothing for myself is part of what would make me a good mom. Then when I became one and loved my little baby SO much, and didn't have a job aside from teaching yoga, he quickly became the center of my universe. I stopped doing anything for myself, showering, eating well, hanging out with my friends, going to hot yoga or even teaching it anymore, or much of anything. I began living exhausted, didn't leave my house much, and was running on coffee, no sleep and my son's leftovers. I did that for a really long time. Too long. . When I found these at-home workouts, joined a group of like-minded mommas and started eating better, I was a whole new woman within 2 weeks. I had more energy, felt stronger & more confident, I began to want things for myself again, I was more patient and joyful with my son, and my husband and I really began to reconnect. .
