- Searching through 100's of pieces of art work, finding new designs for upcoming collection. This piece represents Syria as a house crumbling, and people escaping for refuge in Germany. A 13 years old girl did this, that was in Oct 2015 in Kos. The simplicity of how this piece represents the situation is apparent . This drawing always makes us think. #stopthebloodshed #refugeesarewelcomehere #refugeecrisis #kidsartwork #refugeechildren #arttherapy #art #drawing #textiledesign #syria #greece #germany #stopthewar #peace #lovenothate #compassion #conciousfashion #design #silkscreenprinting #equality #weareallone

- "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." -Ralph Waldo Emerson Today, Was my last day at the IRC in Charlottesville, and I've gotta say, it's been bittersweet. Resettlement isn't all smiles. It's sitting with a client when they hear nothing can be done for their condition despite all they thought American medical technology could do, it's drying the tears of a single mother trying to make ends meet, it's watching the administration ban families from reuniting. It's rough. However, it's also meeting some of the greatest people you never thought you'd meet. It's working through all of the struggles together. It's seeing the tears turn into smiles. Today, when I was taking my exit survey, I was asked if I felt that I had made the difference in at least one person's life. It seems cocky to say, but the last month of questions about my last day and being showered in praise, I like to think I did. I thought about it in that moment and started to tear up. My clients are some of the strongest people I've ever met. They're the heroes of this story. They've escaped war, famine, and political persecution to come to a foreign land and brave through confusing systems, learning English, and a nation questioning its own humanity. It's beyond humbling to be part of their stories and I'm so excited to see where each and every single one ends up. On another note, my biggest regret of the year is not having my "Refugees Welcome" button facing the right way. #sayitloudsayitclear #refugeesarewelcomehere #refugeeswelcome #cville #nobannowall #serviceyear #emilyexploresearth

- Every weekend at Koutsochero Camp our partners @intervolvegr have activities for young adults. Today Ibrahim, an artist who lives in the camp, taught a sketch class to the group. Each weekend Ibrahim will now be teaching sketch basics, instructing teenagers in the camp in line drawing, shading, perspective, and colour. The young students showed incredible artistic talent after Ibrahim's attentive teaching session. Please help us support the incredible work of @intervolvegr, and the other 35 groups we work with in Greece, by donating through the link in our bio. #chooselove

- 60% of refugees under 18 in Velos Youth Centre, Athens are homeless. With the drastic drop in temperatures, especially at night, we are extremely worried about them. Our partners Velos Youth run a youth centre here, and more than 40 young people are coming to the centre each day. For many of them, this is the only safe place in the city where they feel supported. They are providing one hot meal, and distributing roughly 20 sleeping bags, every week. As it gets colder, we'll need to buy more sleeping bags and warm food for all the minors they work with. Please help us do this by donating today: http://bit.ly/HelpRefugeesDonate

- Meet the chefs. Mahmud, Yassine, Mohammed, Said, Saed and Amin are from Myanmar, Algeria and Syria. They cook 300+ meals everyday for refugees living on the island of Lesvos. We visited them this week at the incredible One Happy Family - Community Center, Lesvos. It's a community hub that's special because it's designed, built and run by refugees from all over the world. We were blown away by the atmosphere of hope, and love. On a Tuesday afternoon, there were people in the gym, playing volleyball, watching football, playing chess, drinking coffee and laughing together. We're proud to support them by covering all the food costs, and helping the team of cooks deliver warm, nourishing food everyday. Please help us continue to do so by donating today through the link in our bio.
