- I haven’t introduced myself in a while, so I’ll do so now while I’m at Thrive @thrivecreativecon in #AustinTX this weekend. I’m Sheila...wallflower, lactose intolerant, older than I look, and lover of dresses with pockets. I blog about travel, costume making, wine adventures, and my derpy dogs. Being in front of the camera makes me feel awkward, and being the center of attention gives me hives. I’m irrationally shy with a solid RBF, so please come say “hi”! I promise I won’t bite, but I can’t promise I won’t mistake your wine glass for mine. . This photo was taken by my husband, who likes to catch me off guard, last weekend in Napa Valley. Check my Instagram stories for a Live Photo of the moment I realized he had the camera on me. Spoiler alert: I “nope”. . #houstonblogger #wineblogger #itstheweekend #ThriveLovesBloggers #makingnewfriends #livebeautifully #wearethecreativeeconomy #thebloglife #myblog #texasblogger #travelblogger #cruiseblogger #thriveconference #thriveconference2018 #thriveconf2018 #napa #napavalley #winetasting #winetrain #winery #napawinetrain #napawine #winecountry #fridayintroductions #candidphoto #blogconference

- #putahcreek #wildtrout pic of client from Spring 2017 with an absolutely obese trout. Why do you wait until March 1st to fish Putah Creek?... Many responsible anglers have been messaging in regards to March 1st as the arbitrary "opener", wondering why the vast majority wait to fish when fish have not been seen spawning for several weeks. First off, freshly hatched eggs, from late spawners, are still vulnerable in the redds, easily crushed by wading through them. Secondly, while volunteering with the CADFW during their recent telemetry study, I learned that many fish migrate to the upper sections of the Creek during the spawn, subsequently spreading back out through the Creek in early Spring. The timing of this migration occurs through February. Rather than fish for dark, skinny fish that are headed back to their preferred Spring-Summer habitat; waiting until March gives the fish a chance to recover from the spawn, and decreases the chances of late eggs and alevins being crushed. Though the majority of us have chosen to be responsible and ethical, there are still a few bad apples... Thanks again to all those that have been vocal in support of not fishing Putah during the Winter. It's gonna be awesome this Spring at Putah Creek! See you soon. #heritageandwildtrout
