- #FlashBLACKFriday - Bob Sapp Known around the world as 'The Beast', Bobb Sapp has competed in many disciplines of fighting sports the world over including Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts and Professional Wrestling, and before all of that played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. A native of Colorado Springs, Sapp's professional wrestling career kicked off in 2001 with NWA Wildside. He was quickly signed by WCW but this was only months before the company was brought out by WWE. WWE did not offer Sapp a contract and he would then move to New Japan Pro Wrestling and debut Oct 2002. On March 28, 2004 Bob Sapp would defeat Kensuke Sasaki to become the first and only African-American winner of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, even defending against Shinsike Nakamura during his short reign. He would vacate the title after losing a K-1 fight against Kazuyuki Fujita. Sapp joined WWA in South Korea and captured their WWA Heavyweight title defeating Lee Wang Pyo on October 26, 2009. Sapp returned to NJPW and aligned with a few different stables during his time back, most notably with Chaos and competed with them at Wrestle Kingdom 7 in the Tokyo Dome. Sapp would compete in Mixed Martial Arts competitions alongside his Pro Wrestling and made appearances for Strikeforce, Cage Rage, Super Fight League, Rizin Fighting Federation, Pride and K-1, coming across the likes of Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjasky, Sumo Wrestling legend Akebono and also Bobby Lashley. While contracted to K-1 he was approached by WWE and TNA but turned them both down as his K-1 contract prohibited him from returning to the squared circle. Sapp has also appeared in many movies including, 'Conan the Barbarian', 'Blood and Bone', 'Elektra' and 'The Longest Yard' which also started Adam Sandler, Burt Reynolds, Chris Rock, Nelly, Terry Crews and other stars of Pro Wrestling, Steve Austin, Kevin Nash, The Great Khali and Bill Goldberg. #BobbSapp #TheBeast #NewJapanProWrestling #NJPW #IWGPHeavyweightChampion #WWAHeavyweightChampion #MixedMartialArts #MMA #Kickboxing #ProWrestling #K1 #Actor #TheLongestYard #BlackChampion #BlackWrestling #BlackWrestlersMatter #BlackWrestlingAlliance
