- I am beginning my “organize” journey this year. I made it my word for January but it’s become abundantly clear it’s gonna take all year!! 🤣 I am not only working on organizing my time better, but also my stuff. Part of organizing our things, includes simplifying them. I am taking a good hard look at what we have, what we use, and what we need. The less we have the easier it is to keep organized. It’s been a LOT of work so far. Are you intentional with your stuff - whether in how you organize it or what you buy? Can you share some tips for a newbie?? #organizeallthethings #intentionalshopping #simplifylife

- Q: what are the shui guidelines for beds? is it not ideal to have your headboard against the window? :: thanks for the question + here’s my A: bed placement is one of those shui “rules” that grows wings of its own, causing small stress tremors wherever it lands. and while there are power positions for a bed, i want to emphasize two things: (1) what you LOVE always outranks any shui suggestion. (2) even if a bed is not in the “best” position, there are things we can do to mitigate its placement in our favor. so, here is some bed geography 101 for your consideration: :: :: the best placement is along a solid wall with no doors or windows. ideally, this space also allows you to see anyone coming through the door. the bed is not in alignment with the doorway — you enter the room and easily walk across without the bed blocking you. :: the next best position for a bed is along a wall with windows. however, the windows are not above the headboard or bed, and everything else mentioned above remains the same. :: a less favorable position is when the bed shares a wall with the doorway. since you must turn to see who enters, it can create an unsettled or anxious feeling of “not knowing what’s around the corner.” :: other less favorable positions are when a window is above the headboard/bed or when the bed is in alignment with the door, blocking you from walking across the room. :: the weakest position (and the one everyone is familiar with) is when the foot of a bed faces the door. :: we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed so shui recognizes it as a power spot, which is why there is an emphasis on getting your bed in the command position. (think like a mafia boss — nestled in the back corner of a room with a wall behind him and a full view in front.) :: a solid wall (or headboard) offers support in life. :: a view of the doorway makes us feel safe at a subconscious level, which allows real restoration when sleeping. :: and by moving out of line with energy coming through the door, we halt the experience of “running into things” in our lives. xo
