- Thanks again @flatiron_books for sending me a finished hardcover copy of The Hazel Wood!! • Synopsis: “Seventeen-year-old Alice and her mother have spent most of Alice’s life on the road, always a step ahead of the uncanny bad luck biting at their heels. But when Alice’s grandmother, the reclusive author of a cult-classic book of pitch-dark fairy tales, dies alone on her estate, the Hazel Wood, Alice learns how bad her luck can really get: Her mother is stolen away―by a figure who claims to come from the Hinterland, the cruel supernatural world where her grandmother's stories are set. Alice's only lead is the message her mother left behind: “Stay away from the Hazel Wood.” Alice has long steered clear of her grandmother’s cultish fans. But now she has no choice but to ally with classmate Ellery Finch, a Hinterland superfan who may have his own reasons for wanting to help her. To retrieve her mother, Alice must venture first to the Hazel Wood, then into the world where her grandmother's tales began―and where she might find out how her own story went so wrong.” . . . . . #bookstagram #bibliophile #book #books #bookish #bookphotography #photography #intothehazelwood #thehazelwood #fairytale #melissaalbert #author #flatironbooks #read

- Isn’t this candle from @themeltinglibrary lovely? ✨🖤 And it smells amazing! (And no, I don’t have a Hazel Wood candle problem... Not at all... 😂) ••• Well, I’m not in a reading slump, but it’s more like reading paralysis. 😬 I’m trying to read two books at the same time (one of which I’m struggling to get through, tbh... 😕), and some library holds just came in, and then there are the books I need to read before their sequels come out (*cough* Daughter of the Pirate King)... Basically, I want to read all the things, all at once. 😅 Does anyone else experience this, too?

- The Hazel Wood - Melissa Albert So this is a super-quick picture because I finished this book really late last night, having read it all in one go, and it was incredible!!! You know when you're reading a book and you think 'Hey, this is a good book!' and then a couple of pages or chapters go by and suddenly something happens and it's like 'this is the book I've been waiting for'... that was what this book was like for me. It started a little slowly but then it pulled me under and wouldn't let go and honestly? I didn't want it to. Alice's mother Ella was brought up on fairytales - on the money brought it from her mother's book of fairytales, but also from the stories she was told of a magical, terrible world called the Hinterland. But Ella escaped from her mother's estate The Hazel Wood years ago with baby Alice in tow and has never looked back, always moving from place to place in an attempt to escape the bad luck that seems to follow them everywhere. Alice has never met her grandmother, never read the stories which made her name, but she is fascinated by her nonetheless. So when her mother is kidnapped and her only message is 'Don't come to the Hazel Wood', Alice knows she has to do just that, and fall into a world of fairytales. I adore fairytales. Like Alice, I've grown up reading as many different versions as I can find, and I know the rules by heart. The fairytales in The Hazel Wood are creepier, darker and more twisted than most - when Twice-Killed Katherine appeared I think that was what clinched my nighttime book marathon, because I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep until I'd finished! This is a wonderful, twisty book, completely unpredictable despite the fairytale rules, and absolutely gripping. I'm so glad to have read it! I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. #thehazelwood #melissaalbert #intothehazelwood #fantasy #ya #fairytale #bookstagram #booklover #bookworm #booksofinstagram #bibliophile #igreads #bookreview
