- Want to know all the hype around turmeric when it comes to sports? 🧡 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Exercise induced muscle damage causes your body to be in a state of inflammation as your body is trying to repair the muscle. A phytochemical called curcumin makes up 2-5% of the spice turmeric. It is what causes turmeric to have its potent yellow colour. Curcumin has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, hence why it’s picked up all the hype. However, it’s bioavailability (how available it is in our bodies) is poor when taken orally. Its availability can increase only slightly when it’s accompanied by another phytochemical called piperine, found in black pepper. So how much of the curcumin we are actually getting from turmeric, is unknown. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Therefore, further research to be concluded to solidly confirm the benefits of curcumin. Although there aren't quite as many probiotic bacteria strains in water kefir it would make a great option of those who can't consume dairy. [Please note that water kefir contains small amounts of alcohol, the amount varies depending on how long it is left to ferment. Take care if offering to children!] The more I read at the moment, the more I see how vital our "good gut bacteria" are for supporting immune health and digestion, and we have a lot more to learn about the role these bacteria play in disease and health!! An important point to make is to ensure that you are not only consuming probiotics (especially if you just finished a course of antibiotics), but that you also consume a wide variety of prebiotics. I was in the mood for porridge rather than my usual yoghurt and granola this morning because it was freezing ❄️ . . I have to be in the mood for #porridge but this certainly hit the spot. I like my porridge quite thick and this one was ✅ I added my own cinnamon and some fresh #berries too 🍓 . . Okay so I definitely don’t need 20g of protein from my porridge - I have 2 boiled eggs #postworkout in the morning giving me around 12g of #protein and then standard porridge would give me about 5g! I usually add a couple of tbsp flakes almonds which gives around 2-3g. Total = 20g without any synthetic whey protein. . . Protein powder has its place for some, particularly strength athletes 🏋🏼‍♀️but realistically most of us should be able to get the protein we need from our usual dietary intake . . Overall, good taste, handy for own the go, particularly if you’re staying in hotels as all you need is boiling water! - 🍓dietitian appt . i had my follow up appt with the dietitian - and it turns out i should have been seeing a dietitian who specialises in ibs and the low fodmap diet - so i am now being referred again . i feel it has been difficult with the re-introducing foods phase as i haven’t been having the support i would have had from the specialist dietitian (regular appts and guidance) and i have been having more symptoms lately as i’m not sure what foods i should be trying together and when . so now i’m waiting to see the specialist dietitian who can hopefully help me with a diet plan, advice and support in regards to moving forwards with foods and symptoms . in amazing news though - i have gained another 1.2kg 💪🏻☺️ going from my lowest weight of 41kg to 45kg - which i am very surprised but also very happy about ✨💛 . #transformationtuesday #weightgain #progress #glutenfree #wheatfree

I know that." 😱😱😱 Since she can't eat fruits she eats something sweet like a cake OR pie OR pastry OR another type of dessert. She will drop dead if she won't eat sweets. Yet, she only wants sweets after 8pm, so she skips dinner to eat dessert. Oh, and she also knows not to eat after 7:30 pm because all the food will turn into fat. Unfortunately she can't follow this rule and this is why she's overweight. Apparently, this lovely woman was browsing the net and read all this nonsense from some nutrition "gurus." I mean, no fruits after 12? Really? 😡 I couldn't just let it go, so I explained to her that it's all nonsense. I encouraged her to eat fruits rather than cake. I told her that at the end of the day her total calories matter. She seemed very nice, just lacking the knowledge and understanding about weight management and general concept of caloric deficit. ☝️Please think about what is good for your body and what results you're getting by following nutrition tips. If you see results you want, great! If not, think about the reasons. Maybe these tips are plain ridiculous or don't fit your lifestyle. Maybe you're getting the wrong info. - I bought this granola for my son, and the packaging is hysterical, but this stuff is seriously delicious! @bakeryonmain has nailed this! Made with ancient grains-amaranth and millet + chia + chocolate yumminess. It is also Gluten free (yay for all who need GF). Definitely healthier and with much less sugar than many granolas out there.
