- Aloo-keema(minced meat with potatoes). One of the most traditional and authentic dish of North Indian Muslims. A family favorite and a recipe as old as time. It is usually eaten with a dal on the side with roti and a relish. My kids love making it into a sloppy joe in a hamburger. Love when food crossovers to continents and culture and embodies it’s own character. #foodsofIndia #Mughalfood #AuthenticfoodsofIndia #Anyonecancook #cookinglessons #instantpot #instantpotrecipes Recipe for Aloo keema: 1lb lean minced beef/turkey/chicken 6oz. onion, peeled and finely chopped 6 cloves garlic 1” fresh ginger, peeled. 1-2 fresh hot green chillies 1 tbsp ground coriander 1tsp ground cumin 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper 1 tsp salt or to taste 1tsp garam masala Handful of fresh cilantro, chopped 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice • Put the garlic & ginger in a blender or food processor and blend into a paste. (May require some water to make a smooth paste.) • Put oil in a wide pan over medium-high heat. When hot, put in onions. Let the onions brown a little. Add the ginger-garlic paste to the fried onions. Now put in green chilies, coriander, cumin, and cayenne and minced meat and salt. Stir and fry meat for 5mins. Break any lumps as you go. • Add 6oz of water and bring to a boil. Cover and turn heat to low and simmer for 30 mins. If cooking in an instant pot or pressure cooker. Look for specific instructions for meat. • Add potatoes, peas, garam Masala, lemon juice and fresh coriander. Mix and cook on low heat for 10 more mins. Taste and adjust seasoning and salt according to your taste.
