- I get a lot of questions on exercises to improve running. Here is one of my favorites, bosu ball reverse lunges. A few mechanics get hit with this one movement. The unstable surface forces you to recruit a lot of stabilizing muscles surrounding the knees, ankles and hips which in turn will prevent injury (a twisted ankle for example) and the elevated surface works on increasing the ROM of the movement increasing the flexibility of the legs. Be sure to keep your chest up, shoulders relaxed, and as you initiate the move kick the rear foot back nice and far and drop your knee down to the floor. Feel the stretch in the upper thigh of the rear leg and keep the ankle and knee of the front leg in line with your hip.
