One my favourite things to talk about. 💙 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yoga is the ability to observe your thoughts, that is all. Learning to watch your emotions without reacting to them and then softly allowing them to disappear. Not by pushing them out, not by judging them for being there, instead just watching them like a TV show. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Emotions, thoughts, and feelings are very natural to us as human beings. To try to expel them will only give them more power. Trying to stop thoughts by thinking about thoughts will only create more thoughts & make it more difficult to practice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By sitting down for 20 minutes every morning & evening and following your breath, you are practicing yoga. Whatever shows up is okay. Frustration, watch it. Lack of focus, watch it. And then let it go & return to the breath. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you are being confronted and you stop, think, and take a deep breath before you react - you are practicing Yoga. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you are feeling overwhelmed and you stop, take a breath, and feel what is happening in your body - you are practicing Yoga. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can practice every moment of every day, treating each challenge as a blessing that is there to help you to move deeper into yourself. This thinking will change your perspective of life, but to get there, we need to slow down, give our brains some rest, and reconnect to our deeper selves. This is when meditation comes in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We are living too fast, moving too fast and thinking too fast. To catch up with the overwhelming pace of modern living, we need to learn to take time to REST. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I challenge everyone to set their alarms 10 minutes earlier than usual, get out of bed, brush their teeth/go to the bathroom, and then sit down for 10 minutes & follow your breath - nothing else. Do the same before you go to sleep. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Try this for a WEEK and watch it change your life. - A sneeze, a friggin SNEEZE blew out my back a little over a month ago. It was so painful I couldn’t walk or sit or lift myself up without blurting a string of expletives. Never having had something like that happen before ( hello, #thisis30 🙄) I was scared I’d be rendered incapable of yoga practice. But after about 2 weeks it subsided enough that I was slowly able to start practicing again, and here I am a few weeks after that not even feeling a pinch in a hollowback headstand attempt. - A sneeze, a friggin SNEEZE blew out my back a little over a month ago. It was so painful I couldn’t walk or sit or lift myself up without blurting a string of expletives. Never having had something like that happen before ( hello, #thisis30 🙄) I was scared I’d be rendered incapable of yoga practice. But after about 2 weeks it subsided enough that I was slowly able to start practicing again, and here I am a few weeks after that not even feeling a pinch in a hollowback headstand attempt. Akkor még nem tudtam milyen fontos a csípőnyitás, és hogy az érzelmi feszültségek itt gyűlnek össze... minél többet gyakorlok, minél többet foglalkozom a lelkemmel, annál könnyedebben megy az elengedés és ezáltal a lelkem is megbékél. Az utóbbi időben nagyon sok bókot kapok, hogy mennyire sugárzom, látszik rajtam, hogy rendben vagyok magammal...egyrészről nagyon jól esik, másrészről pedig egy szuper jó visszaigazolás, hogy jó úton járok, pedig nagyon mélyről indultam...nehéz időszakon vagyok túl a jóga gyakorlás és oktatás segítségével. - It’s official!!! 😁 In 145 sleeps I will be in Goa, India 🇮🇳 embarking on my own exciting adventure to become a 200 hour accredited Yoga Instructor! 🧘‍♀️ After months of deliberating, hesitating and researching; finally with lots of love and support from my amazing friends and family (I don’t know where I would be without you all ❤️), some self love and determination, I finally plucked up the courage (with a rather shaky hand) to click BOOK!! It hasn’t been a case of “am I sure?”...I am SO ready to be inspired, to learn and grow and be completely exhausted at the end of everyday! It’s been the whole “am I good enough?” and being ridiculously nervous to go alone. - My heart belongs to Ashtanga. My shoulder is getting in the way of me and my love but not for long. Healing is on its way and my heart longs for it but then I’m reminded of one of the Niyamas; Santosha which teaches contentment. It’s all about digging down to your unshakable inner peace; finding a sense of grounding. It’s about finding contentment in all circumstances. How can I practice gratitude? What is true for me no matter what? In challenging circumstances, this Niyama invites us to dig deep. Today I was able to move more and feel less pain and that certainly gives me a sense of contentment and gratitude. - My heart belongs to Ashtanga. My shoulder is getting in the way of me and my love but not for long. Healing is on its way and my heart longs for it but then I’m reminded of one of the Niyamas; Santosha which teaches contentment. It’s all about digging down to your unshakable inner peace; finding a sense of grounding. It’s about finding contentment in all circumstances. How can I practice gratitude? What is true for me no matter what? In challenging circumstances, this Niyama invites us to dig deep. Today I was able to move more and feel less pain and that certainly gives me a sense of contentment and gratitude.
