- Dyslexia, isn't often a label that I apply to myself. I can read well, love reading. Sometimes when I am writing letters flip around, or occasionally words--spelling has always been a challenge. Often, 'the' will become 'hte', and other little things. I have trained myself to catch these moments, to work around them. Previously, I had never considered any of this an 'artistic' problem. However, in the past year as I have dedicated more time to drawing, I have come to recognize issues there as well. 1. I do not often draw from photographs or images, because I often mix things up. Like looking in a mirror and trying to go left, only to end up going right. Or driving a car in reverse, you must go the opposite direction! I have a very hard time, wrapping my brain around these things and keeping them there. 2. Sometimes, I can see things are off, or the perspective is wrong, but I can not always work my brain around fixing it. 3. Detailing. I have noticed often when working on details, especially small repetitious shape or patterns, that if I am not paying very close attention--and sometimes even if I am--things will flip or become distorted. For example, the other day I was doing a left pattern, little jagged edged leaves all going one direction, but somewhere along the line, some of them started going the other way. Or the jagged edges were in the wrong direction. I am not quiet sure how to work with or develop workarounds for some of these issues. Obviously practice, is always good, and part of the beauty of hand made art--at least to me--are those moments of imperfection. But, it can still be frustrating. . . . . . . #artlife #artists #art #artproblems #dyslexia #dyslexicartist #drawing #creating #artprocess #artistshare #krazysidhestudios #krazysidhe #jayart #workingartist #birdmask #face #metalicpaint #watercor #watercolorart #painting #fantasyart
