- Back and shoulders! 🏋🏽‍♀️ Here are a few exercises from yesterday’s back and shoulders session (filmed by @emappleton_ 👍🏻). I’ve been getting a weird pain in my lower back recently so I left deadlifts out of my session and I didn’t push myself too hard - that being said, it was still a tough workout 💪🏻 (All clips have been sped up) 1️⃣ Standing military press: 3x8 great for working primarily your shoulders but also recruits your upper back, triceps, biceps and core! 2️⃣ Wide grip pull ups: I can’t currently do these unassisted so I tend to do 3x8 assisted, then do 3 body weight eccentric reps as slow as possible (as shown) 3️⃣ Lateral raises: 3x12 using plates rather than dumbbells to engage the lateral head of the shoulders rather than the traps 4️⃣ Seated rows 1 1/2: 3x12 keep it slow and controlled and it really burns - focus on squeezing your shoulder blades together 5️⃣ Rotator cuff external rotation: 4x12 on each arm. - Did a lot of thinking... or maybe a little bit too much thinking (didn’t end up going to the gym when I planned to) over the weekend that I woke up this Monday Morning feeling burnt out 😂😅! Never been the type of person for change (hate change tbh) but this month my soul be telling me it’s time to step out of my comfort zone and grow some balls 😳 Finally quit my (soon to be ex) job and got a new one (bruhHhhHhh), working on some projects and becoming more aware of myself and my surroundings. Hope everyone has a fabulous week ✨❤️

While I was there I got the opportunity not only to share my story, but listen to @iamprufit tell her own incredible one. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During my visit it truly hit me that I would have never ever ever been able to secure any sort of opportunity like this without recovery. And man I’m glad I went for it. - DO YOU MONITOR YOUR HR? ❤❤ Previously I always used my polar or fitbit to track my workouts but I've become a little lazy and they've been left on the side. I've been cheeky with my rest times and often ended up having a chat between sets/exercises. So after @harrythomas_uk had a chat with us about 'results' and monitoring HR during a workout it's kicked me up the backside. I've managed 2 quick kettle bell circuits this week due to parents evening but each time I've been conscious of my HR and actually I've left feeling like I've worked my socks off. (And back then I knew no different) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s great to see so so many more women venturing into the weights area in particular after it being such a male dominated area for so long. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Regardless of what type of training / excercise someone may do, women in fitness show that they have the ability to be powerful, strong, determined and prove that men aren’t the only ones capable of that. At times I feel the perception some may have is that women in the gym are there to grow their glutes and go. An idea that every girl must be kicking their legs back on cable machines, carrying a resistance band whilst waltzing around in the trendiest activewear. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Where as the reality is, we’re all different, we all train how we like to train, some different than others (there’s not ‘right’ way to train🤷🏽‍♀️) and if someone is doing something to better themselves, their health or taking time out for themselves well that’s what important, and the only thing that’s important. One of my biggest challenges I faced when I began training was attempting to feel adequate against the other women who in reality probably felt the excact same as me. - ⚠️Making it a point not to neglect ab training even though its #growingseason because at the end of the day, they’re still like any other muscle and our abs are still there 🔥 We just might not see them the way we want to when we’re bulking, but once its time to lean out a bit, oh they’ll be there alright! Just gotta put in the WORK and TRUST the process 🙏🏻❤️ . In the mean time, here are some go to ab exercises I’ve been loving lately! Lots of reverse crunches that really work the lower abs, as that’s one of my more stubborn areas 😁 . 1️⃣ “Negative” Reverse Crunches - focus on the eccentric part of the movement or the “lowering down” phase of the rep! these can be done on a flat mat/surface as well. 2️⃣ Ball Jackknife to Push Up - two jackknives followed by a push up! these are pretty killer and work your entire core and balance at the same time! 💪🏼 tryyy them! 3️⃣ Incline Crunches - the OGs, 3 sets in and I’m usually ouch ouch ouch 😂 4️⃣ Weighted Incline Crunches - if the OGs are too easy for you! 5️⃣ Reverse Crunches - easily done on a flat surface as well! making sure you lie on your back flat and really using your core to pull your legs! ———— 🎧 Stay - Alessia Cara

Here’s how to progress towards a full, unassisted pull up! ———————————————————————— Video 1; ASSISTED PULL UPS; These are great as you have weight aiding you when you pull back up. TIP; the lighter you go in weight, the harder it is as there will be less weight helping you get you back up. - HOW DO YOU FIND TIME? 🤷‍♀️⌚ In all honestly if you want it that bad you will find time. The body, strength or lifestyle you want won't come to you if you don't work for it. Here are my top tips to help you organise your time. 1.) Go before work or straight after: never go home and rest before. Get it done before work and get up a little earlier or go straight after work. You'll still have your evenings and you won't get in and get settled and then end up not doing anything. 2.) Adapt your workouts: if you know you're working late or running out of time. Adapt adapt adapt. Use supersets/trisets to save time. Do a kettlebell workout or a circuit. A short intense workout is better than nothing. 3.) Don't make excuses: this is so easy to do. Oh I'm tired, oh I need a lie in etc etc. We all do it but if you did it everytime you had a bad day, we're tired or just felt mer results would never happen. Suck it up and you always feel 100% better after. - HOW DO YOU FIND TIME? 🤷‍♀️⌚ In all honestly if you want it that bad you will find time. The body, strength or lifestyle you want won& #39;t come to you if you don& #39;t work for it. Here are my top tips to help you organise your time. 1.) Go before work or straight after: never go home and rest before. Get it done before work and get up a little earlier or go straight after work. You& #39;ll still have your evenings and you won& #39;t get in and get settled and then end up not doing anything. 2.) Adapt your workouts: if you know you& #39;re working late or running out of time. Adapt adapt adapt. Use supersets/trisets to save time. Do a kettlebell workout or a circuit. A short intense workout is better than nothing. 3.) Don& #39;t make excuses: this is so easy to do. Oh I& #39;m tired, oh I need a lie in etc etc. We all do it but if you did it everytime you had a bad day, we& #39;re tired or just felt mer results would never happen. - 🌎🌎🌎🌎 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Past experiences and what I’ve learnt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I suppose my life’s been short-ish, but there’s been a lot of things I’ve learned, at times I’ve been surprised by the outcomes of things and what’s come from them but I’ve learned that there’s something to learn with everything you do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One thing I’ve learnt is it’s okay not to be the same as everyone else. From very young I tried to fit into a box of what ideal was. I remember wondering why my family rarely sat down to have dinner together, why our house was always messy, why everyone I knew had some sort of pet and I spent all my years (up until I got Muffin) wondering why I never had one. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I remember one time aged 8, I was sad because I never had my cast signed like everyone else, you know one for a broken arm? Well I never got it signed because I’d never broken a bone- so one day I moulded some wet tissue around my arm, I let it dry then headed off into school with my ‘broken’ arm the next day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ive learnt (stereotypically) that every good thing comes to an end🙂 And that’s because everything does. My biggest loss was my dad oh along with my Bratz umbrella I left that in the train station one day (my umbrella not my dad). And although they’ve both left a hole in my heart, I’ve learnt to make the most of things right now rather than dwell on what I could’ve done to stop them happening. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve also learnt that sometimes, the only thing holding us all back is ourselves. You can want to do / day / be anything you want to be, but if you’re spending your time in fear of taking action, just know if you do whatever that thing may be, right now, you’ll spend a lot less time worrying about the outcome.

How far have you come since or maybe you have just started. Not just physically but mentally. - So you don't feel like going to the gym? Think about all of the things above. And oooo am I sore the next day 😅 After taking a whole three weeks off of the gym due to being swamped with college class (chem142 and precalc need to calm down), I decided to hit the gym Saturday morning. There’s literally zero time on the weekdays, especially since I have midterms later this week and then the beginning of next week 🤢🤢🤢 ya girl is gonna be stuck in a library her whole life 🤓 I haven’t conjured up the courage to go to my university’s gym yet 😔 there’s just too many macho men there and I’m more comfortable at my local one but maybe next week. HAVE AN AMAZING SUNDAY!! ☀️ hope you are able to enjoy it enough for the both of us cuz I’m gonna be inside all day.

- I PASSED MY LEVEL 3 PT EXAMS ❤🤸‍♀️💪After 5 weekends (along with working full time), revision every evening, and alot of strops and tears I'm so happy to have passed.
