- The beginnings of some clematis flowers for today's @floralsyourway prompt! I get a lot of DM's about my process, so for those of you asking: 1. the drawing always starts out with a rough layout laid down lightly first, with darker detail added after (I use the same pencil for both). 2. Yes I'm always looking at a reference (actually, it's always a few references!), but usually by the time I'm done it looks nothing like the photos I'm using. 3. A drawing like this one would take about 2 hours total, but I work best in 20 minute chunks. Rarely do I sit down and draw something from start to finish. 4. For some reason drawing comes more easily to me at night (honestly I don't even know if that's a real thing, but it is to me sooo 🤷🏻‍♀️), and the majority of my work is done after 9pm. Rarely (basically never) do I draw during the day! One of these days I'll film it all for you guys, but (see points #3 and #4) I'll have to set aside a big chunk of time and find some decent lighting to do it! Hopefully that helped!
