Instagram photo by garmenthouse - Ok guys, I'm going for it! Aidez is getting turned into a pullover! I'm incorporating my favorite cable stitches to the front to switch things up! It's been fun and fast, since I had forgotten my cable needle back home and had to figure out how to do the honeycomb and seed stitch wishbone without it. How many of you do cables without a needle?

andreatotallyrules - Andréa Rules I just use a spare DPN for cabling
teeheewithmee - Jamie T I love cabling without a needle! It makes things so much faster and that's one less thing I have to carry in my knitting kit.
elenalgold - Elena Gold @garmenthouse oh yeah, I never use a cable needle. Esp for honeycomb! So much faster without. :)
sarahjanegaines - Sarah Neiger Gaines That honeycomb is gorgeous!
nashandrusso - stephanie nash Break free of the cable needle, totally unnecessary for most cables!
bishpaasch - Trent & Rachel That's me! I've been knitting Rowe without a cable needle and its sped me up tremendously!!!
jordol - jordo I do, especially honeycomb!!
miepcadex - miepcadex Eeeek! This post gave me butterflies! I have cabled without only much the same way. Usually I put it in my hair and forget. Sad Truth.
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - I finished the back of Aidez, and thankfully remembered to lengthen the raglan this time. I'm wondering if I should make this one a pullover, or possibly steek the front...

vmarcoux - m a r c o u x Oh I bet a pullover would be great! I knit Aidez a few years ago and the fronts just don't feel wide enough for me. I would love it as a cozy pullover!!!
miepcadex - miepcadex I have this sweater on the needles unfinished. The idea of pullover sounds like a concept that could push me to finish. Share your notes. Super curious about this news.
thecraftsessions - Felicia Semple So pretty - the yarn looks lush!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @bispeterson @baileymwolf 😂😂 and that's a hard thing to do!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @vmarcoux @miepcadex now you've got me seriously thinking about that pullover idea!!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @gingerly.crafted @thecraftsessions thanks you two!
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - Knitting another Aidez, years later. This time, I'm going to fix the mistakes I made the first time.

sbeemakes - Stephanie @garmenthouse what yarn?
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @sbeemakes lion brand fishermen's and more machine knitting wool.
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @sarahjanegaines thanks! This is a good one, and it looks like they've updated the pattern and fixed the mistakes since I made it last! So nice for a free pattern!
knitbot - knitbot Beautiful, I had so much fun knitting that!
jballanti - Jessica Love that pattern! I want to make it again in Quince
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - Doug gave me a set of bannetons, and wow! I had low expectations for my first time using them, but these fresh loaves are really amazing. A combination of them plus picking up some new and easy techniques from "The Bread Bible" my sister-in-law gave me for Christmas is slowly transforming my bread baking attempts. Do any of you have tips for use and mostly care of bannetons? I'm finding that loads of flour is key, but I'm a little puzzled how I'm supposed to clean them if dough happens to stick.

rachellakefromscratch - Rachel I wash mine with warm water if dough sticks, discovered that rice flour works so much better than wheat for preventing sticking
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @rachellakefromscratch oh wow, thank you! I'll have to try that! I read one review on these saying that, but I didn't have any on hand. And it's good to know that washing them with warm water is ok. Two reviewers said NEVER warnings in all caps, but I'm afraid that dough is going to ruin them if it sits. Thanks!
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - I'm looking forward to more of this and spending time with my family this weekend, how about you?

thrifty_hippie - Yvonne Etsy:RiversideHandmade More of that and a childless home for 48h...and no plans...see where it takes me ✨
bispeterson - bispeterson @garmenthouse Well since you asked and so you will laugh: I'm in Knoxville at s training for church, boys are with me. Tonight I sent them to the closest Chipotle which happened to be on campus at university of Tennessee's during a basketball game. Everyone was drunk. So this weekend I'll be trying to top that!
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - Nope. Not gonna happen. I just divided this top-down sweater for the arms and realized the last bit of this yarn is not going to cut it. Time to get creative with yet another two-tone sweater! Sorry guys, I'm a one-trick pony.

frolicblog - Chelsea You are amazing! You'll make it awesome I am sure. This shot is delicious!
bispeterson - bispeterson I just want to give you a big whatever to the one trick comment... You are a clothes-designing, bread-making, sweater-knitting, family-loving, always growing amazing woman! One trick pony. Ha!
ashmhiggs - ashmhiggs If your one trick is seamlessly marrying two totally different yarns in an unconventional yet beautiful way, that's not a bad trick.
wilburandfern - sarah s-d Maybe a carousal pony, who doesn't love those!! So fantastical!!!!

bryonyandtom - bryonyandtom Love this... And the floor is gorgeous!
lil_sebastian_ - Becky Nalepinski Is that flooring or a rug? If it is indeed a rug, could you please tell me where from?
garmenthouse - garmenthouse Thanks @lil_sebastian_ it's our kitchen and dining room flooring.
lil_sebastian_ - Becky Nalepinski @lil_sebastian_ Thank you for taking the time to answer!😊

thecraighensel - Craig Hensel So worth it. I pulls two rusty ones out the garage a few months back. Sanded them all up, seasoned then. Ready to roll.
doreshandmade - Stephanie Renee How did you season them?
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @doreshandmade I followed the instructions in a Lodge cookbook we have. It said to scrub the crap out of them (you can use steel wool, a Brillo pad or even s.o.s.) dry them right away, then smother them in vegetable oil or shortening and bake in a preheated 350° oven upside down with tinfoil on the rack beneath it for 1 hour. I actually had to oil and bake them twice, but now they look brand new!
thishandmadelife - olivia villarreal They look so shiny! Skillets are amAzing!
bishpaasch - Trent & Rachel @butterbirdy4163 👆
karentempler - karentempler We recently discovered the secret to maintaining them is coconut oil. Doesn't get sticky like veg oil. Learned from the Pan Man at Sacramento flea market (panman.com, seriously) to clean after use by scraping then filling with boiling water, scrape while that soaks for a minute if needed, then pour out the water, wipe dry, and rub on the finest possible coating of coconut oil. It's so brilliant I can't help pontificating about it!
marthakate_ - martha We love our cast and use it everyday! (and since we truly do use them everyday we just use olive oil after every use) But when I do bake them to properly seal, it really does stink horribly!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @karentempler @marthakate_ well, duh! I SHOULD be doing that every time I use it and why have I not?! Now that they're really shiny, I'll start. And the stickiness is pretty bad, so I'm excited to try coconut oil! Thanks ladies!

vmarcoux - m a r c o u x Love the triangle hat!
toltyarnandwool - Anna Dianich ❤️ Padraig Cottage booties.
selahbakes - Selah @myimperfectheart pom-pom love!
annaallenclothing - Anna McClurg I would looove the pattern someday for that triangle hat. It's perfection! Btw, just bought your Plowline sweater pattern and can't wait to get started on it. I'm having difficulty figuring out colors to use, though! Any suggestions?
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @annaallenclothing oh awesome!!!! Be warned about the neckline, the numbers are wrong and I need to update it, but it's correct besides that. I hope you enjoy it! And you know, I've always wanted to try a black and white one! Or gray and light gray or white. I'm not that interesting. Blue, like navy and white might be good. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
annaallenclothing - Anna McClurg @garmenthouse Thanks so much for the tip! I'll be sure to check the numbers before knitting the neckline! I really love the original color combination but my friend was also thinking of making it and she liked the color combo too. I thought I'd try something different. I'm so boring too because all I could think of was cream and light gray or gray and light gray! Lol. I'm toying with getting the cotton blend from knitpicks. Any other inexpensive yarn recommendations? Anyway I'm so inspired by all your knitting and I'm excited to get back into it! It's been soo long!
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - Incredible. I finished this little sweater with just that much wool to spare! I've been trying to stretch not buying any new wool for as long as I can, and instead have been trying to use up the good stuff I have on hand or rip out half finished projects I've never been satisfied with. The fact that this sweater used up almost every last bit of yarn that's been sitting unused for years feels pretty great. Now if I can just find a good zipper... Knitting Pure and Simple pattern No. 249

miepcadex - miepcadex Where do I find that yarn?
sbeemakes - Stephanie @garmenthouse love!
sarahjanegaines - Sarah Neiger Gaines Resourcefulness is such a great feeling.
bispeterson - bispeterson So cute! Your talents amaze me!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @bispeterson you are such a bonus to me marrying Doug! I love you! You never stop encouraging me.
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @sarahjanegaines isn't it? It's just a fun challenge sometimes that I like to tackle. Not all the time though, it'd kill me. Balance and keeping your priorities in check are important in life with kids, jobs, bad health...
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @miepcadex which yarn are you wanting to know about? They were both unmarked. The spool yarn is a machine knitting wool I bought from my machine knitting friend. It was the last spool and like I said, unmarked. The grey was partially knit into something else, but I'm guessing it was Patons Classic Wool. It was surprising soft!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @wilburandfern @thrifty_hippie thanks guys! ✋
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - I'm so thankful for knitting. It's such a stress reliever when my health isn't good. And last night and today have been a struggle. It sure is nice to have something good to pour myself into when I can't seem to do much else!

elenalgold - Elena Gold 💗🌸sending you good healing energy. :)
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @vmarcoux @thequiethedonist @elenalgold thank you all! Looking down into my lap and seeing that I'm able to move my way through something beautiful and useful when everything else is outside of my control helps so much. Plus, it's a good time to pray through the pain, or listen to audiobooks, good music or sermons.
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @thequiethedonist @sarahjanegaines and thankfully this isn't one of my patterns, so you can buy it now! It's Knitting Pure and Simple Pattern No. 249. I am using a tighter gauge so that the smallest graded size (2-4) will fit a one year old - it's working perfectly!
thequiethedonist - The Quiet Hedonist Thanks @garmenthouse I'm going to grab a copy. My wee one is will be 18 months when this is needed so hopefully I can work a size. Hope you're pain subsides soon
bispeterson - bispeterson I love you Elly. I'm praying right now. I'm sorry I wasn't sooner. @garmenthouse
thrifty_hippie - Yvonne Etsy:RiversideHandmade True. It's a perfect stress reliever too. I must knit daily or else I feel tense. I hope you're feeling better very soon. ✨❤️✨
