slowlorus - Delia Yes, what @strikknit said. Twisted German can be v. smooth (& quicker) when done in one motion This way instead of manually twisting the yarn on the left hand, the needle comes up from behind the two strands on the thumb, dips between them, catches the yarn over the index finger to bring it thru the loop created on the thumb in a move which twists the yarn and casts on the stitch in a single swoop.
kate55.81 - @garmenthouse thanks!!!
idafwl - Ida/FWL Awesome! I need to try this :)
paule_tb - Paule T.B. I don't believe in 🐸ing !! Unless completely inevitable i just power through and find solutions. Less depressing!
phoebe.jar - Phoebe Woah, amazing! Now I want to see how they fit ❤️
suzygepp - Suzan Geppi There you go
roxannatorresvaldovinos - Roxanna Valdovinos What pattern is that?
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @preciousmetta yes! Life moves so fast, and sometimes too fast to really explain (or for people to really listen). And whenever I try to convince myself I can keep up or try harder, I always hit a wall, and I hit hard. You get so used to the constant pain battle your body is fighting, you don't realize how little margin you have to work with until burnout. Thank you, and you're right, socks have been such a good project to keep me company through this.
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @carolannegraham thank you, Carolanne. I just love popping over to your feed and seeing all your beautiful work.
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @willownestknits stage IV?! Me too! I mean, that's nothing to really high five about because it blows, but... Yes, lack of energy. YES! I thought I was going crazy for the years leading up to being diagnosed (by the time they found it, I was already stage four). That is such a heartbreaking part about it, the isolation. And I can totally understand what you mean about being afraid of people thinking it's an excuse. People have actually told me I'm making excuses! Until it almost killed me two years ago, I didn't even understand just how destructive endometriosis was and how scary of a monster it can be. So little is known about it and even with the stages, every case is so different. Thank you for the prayers, and for sharing!
willownestknits - anna Maybe not a high five but at the same time there is something exciting about running across people that are going through similar things! Makes us feel like we aren't alone. It sounds like you've had a rougher road than I have! I had surgery almost 2 years ago and that is when I was diagnosed with it. I was told I would need surgery every two years but I'm hoping to find other alternatives. I got a book by one of the top endometriosis specialists in the US to read but I get so emotional every time I read it because it's like all the thoughts and feelings I've tried to tell myself are confirmed as real and while it's a relief it's also a little horrifying to know its real. If that makes sense? But yes the isolation part is so hard! I've been trying to get better at opening up and sharing with people but it's always a scary thing when a lot of people don't understand and think they have all the answers to fix your problem. I'm learning to have a lot of grace through this!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @owlcatdesigns they really are. And such a great project to always have with you!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @mrsashleyjbarrett @isabelgwendizzle @preciousmetta @eowynjesse @arheinhard thanks everyone! It's @juneprycefiber arts Plum Panda Sock yarn in "Dawn's Calling." The pattern is @susanbanderson #howimakemysocks and I copied a sock she made recently. You can go to her feed, podcast or blog to hear more about the stitch pattern. It was inspired by the Ellison Bay shawl by Paula of @knittingpipeline
arheinhard - Alma 📷 ❤️ Thank you @garmenthouse
mrsashleyjbarrett - Ashley Barrett Seriously so BEAUITFUL!!! Thank you!!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @paule_tb isn't that the worst?! Oh I hope your little one sleeps in a little eventually. I also go to bed super early most nights, but on those occasional mornings when I wake before the kids, I always have that momentary panic of "do I move? They're going to hear me." I usually can't even walk past their rooms without them waking up, but I finally gave up this morning and went to wake them!!!! It's gonna be a fun bedtime tonight! 😬
mme.lyons - ⚜🤓 That is so funny about the texture & drool 😳🤓; I use Buffalo mugs or the TOLT mug & have that problem w/o those awesome cables. Lovin' this post💝
paule_tb - Paule T.B. My newborn baby is always squirming and making those weird cracking sounds after his feed around 3-4am. This morning i let him stretch his legs in the bed instead of trying to make him sleep. I cannot believe i *made* another early bird. 😓😭 when they'll be teena ill wake them at five for breakfast 😆
knitandreknit - Danielle Sekelsky that’s funny, now I’m imagining interchangeable needles! Feeling a little obsessed…my search continues…
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @erindando wait, do you knit? In my opinion, socks are so easy! I wish I could teach you!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @erindando I did just see that @susanbanderson has a Craftsy sock knitting class that's just been released. She's a great teacher!
erindando - Erin Dando Oh thank you 😊! Will check it out. I've been stuck on beginner level my whole life. Only because I've always tried to teach myself, I really need to learn properly from somebody. Socks seem so tricky to me, those tiny needles, tiny stitches, and the heels look hard to do! Winter's coming here, maybe it's time!
sarahjanegaines - Sarah Neiger Gaines Those are some fun socks!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @babaaknitwear I forgot how much I missed it too! Now I want to knit a million pairs.
babaaknitwear - babaà @garmenthouse ha! I know that feeling, enjoy!
mphilippel - Marie Leblanc These two colorways look like they were made to go together!!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @mphilippel oh good because @susanbanderson made a pair with plain ivory which I loved, but this was all I had on hand.
brynncafaz - Those look like socks that need fun times.
ch_chitnis - Christine Did you make the sweater you're wearing too? It's gorgeous!
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @ch_chitnis Yes, thank you! It's a free pattern called Big Cable Pullover.
ch_chitnis - Christine Thanks! I love it- added to Ravelry fav list!!
