Instagram photo by garmenthouse - It's also a freezer meal factory over here, and I was wondering - what are your tied and true, go-to freezer meals for new moms? Every time I go to make a meal for a nursing mom, I get so conflicted. No tomatoes? No dairy? No spice? What's safe and still tastes good, and keeps well in the freezer?

kristintidd - Kristin Do you have a recipe for lactation cookies? I like to bring lots of easy snack stuff for those inevitable feelings of, "I could eat all the food in this house" moments.
kristintidd - Kristin I also bring my chicken soup or dumplings.
cedarsen - Sarah @garmenthouse I just kind of wing the chicken soup. I sauté onions, carrot and celery in coconut oil and then add either chicken legs (with bones) and some chicken breasts, water to cover, tablespoon sea salt (or more), tsp apple cider vinegar (helps pull the minerals and marrow out of the bones) and cook for 4 hours. I usually end up adding more salt to taste. Sometimes I add mushrooms an hour before it's done cooking. Bone broth soups are nice because they contain gelatin (which I'm sure you know) and it's anti-inflammatory. Helps with post-birth recovery esp C sections ❤️
bispeterson - bispeterson White chicken chili, my famous vegetable soup (I can send you a recipe), my somewhat weird turkey Tetrazzini (has artichokes and roasted red peppers, so yummy), trail mix, breakfast casserole, not all at the same time of course.
sarahjaneknits - Sarah My favorite lasagna recipe by Tess Kiros, chicken enchiladas, or some kind of soup. Everyone loves the Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles from Post Punk Kitchen. And usually a baguette or salad (sometimes I just grab a bag of the kale cranberry salad mix at Costco).
heartbeetfarm - Rebecca Schwen These ideas are all amazing sounding! I was given many meals this summer when my last baby was born but I loved the flourless peanut butter banana muffins with chocolate chips that a friend made 3 batches of and froze...I had 2 little kids already and plus nursing mom=need snacks as well as meals. The recipe is easy and it's from Detoxinista. We have made them, easy recipe, and we are not a gluten free family. A nice high protein snack food.
mountainkidd - Michelle No dairy for sure! Tomatoes are fine. Mine go to is a chicken kale potato all in one dish from food and wine.
lil_sebastian_ - Becky Nalepinski Martha Stewart has a whole freezer meal article on her blog. I've tried quite a few and they've turned out beautifully! Also the Domestic Geek on YouTube has a few freezer meal recipes that have been awesome!

barbgrwe - BarbaraGrilleyWeener Thank you, I love things that go fast and are fun to do 😜👵🏻
garmenthouse - garmenthouse The grey marled is Patons Classic, the heather pink is Lion Brand, Wool-Ease I believe, the white is @knitpicks Palette and the brown and white marl is Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool (just in case anyone else asks).

Instagram photo by garmenthouse - Last night, my friend went into early labor and all I could do was pray and knit a tiny little @purlsoho #garterearflaphat that even at the smallest size, knit with sport weight yarn will most likely be too big for this precious four pound darling. During this time that we feel we are living at the hospital and clinic, it was a great feeling walking into labor and delivery with fresh flowers and the tiniest, fastest hat I've ever knit in celebration of this new little life.

kristintidd - Kristin Oh man, I remember too well how scary that is. Maxers was 4lbs 4oz. I might still have some boy preemie things I can mail to you if needed, I've been waiting to pass them on.
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @kristintidd holy cow, really? What week did you deliver at again? My friend just hit 37 weeks, but baby girl is just only at 4lbs! I'll make sure to ask her if she needs anything tomorrow when we go in for o's testing. I know she wasn't prepared for an early birth... But who is I guess!
woolfcafe - Kirstin Alexander @garmenthouse my baby was born at 27 weeks, 2 pounds 14 oz! He's doing amazing now! It's incredible what modern medicine can do. Sending love!
nanjosephine - My good friend Alee took her baby home a few weeks ago. He was born at 24 weeks and just hit his due date today! He is chubby, healthy and beautiful. Her account is @bishlee
bishlee - Alee Bishop @nanjosephine ❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
kristintidd - Kristin @garmenthouse Maxers was 34 weeks, I ruptured at 32 and was on monitored bed rest in the hospital for 2 weeks before he decided it was time. Let me know, I also have a friend who had 32 week twin girls - she might still have a few tiny things.
ndakkatie - Katie Prater God bless mama and baby! Quick recovery and home soon.
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - I've been making lots of mistakes in my knitting lately... I'm distracted and rushed. It's hard to feel like I can't get anything right, but I would work myself into insanity if everything in my life had to be perfect. This sweater meant for Doug was finished just in time for his birthday at the beginning of this month, something I thought I was designing to fit him perfectly, that used all but that last tiny bit of yarn! It's meant to be! Oh did I get it wrong. We actually all laughed when he tried it on! His muscular shoulders stuffed into this sweater that fits me, not him. I guess I'll try again when I have the time, whenever that will be.

sbeemakes - StephanieBilotti @garmenthouse need to start a #menintinyknitwear hashtag to cheer up the entire world. I also made a too small sweater for my man years ago and made him try it on so many times when I needed a good laugh. Husbands/boyfriends are fun... To torture.
bispeterson - bispeterson We know that @yote79 felt like such a stud forcing his muscles into this sweater. 😂💪💞
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @bispeterson lol, we did notice he was taking a while to take it back off again! We thought maybe it was because he couldn't! 😂😂

Instagram photo by garmenthouse - I need to thank you for your kind support and your downloads of Plowline after my last post! I am still planning on taking it down sometime this week, but it'll still be there a little longer since people are continuing to buy it. Photographing this sweater was so much fun and a challenging race against time since I was keeping the fact that I was almost six months pregnant quiet for just a little longer! I didn't know at the time just how much this new endeavor would conflict with caring for my little one, but I feel so thankful to be able to make the choice to put this on the back burner for now. And the extra support from all of you has helped so much to make me feel like it's a good choice. Thank you!

bispeterson - bispeterson Love you Elly. You're an amazing mother.

sokkgirl - Bought and saved! Glad of finding your post on removing the pattern! Look forward to more yarnly goodness from you in the future! And, your fans will be here! Sending calm and strength!
rehugg - rachel So glad I bought this before it was cool ;) I've been looking for the perfect yarn for it for about 4 months. I love this photo! You look like Nordic Julia Roberts.
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @rehugg I've been thinking of you so much lately and have been meaning to pm you and ask how you're doing, but things are just nuts over here. I hope lupron is being kind to you. I can't wait to see what you choose for your Plowline!!! And that's hilarious that you said nordic Julia Roberts, because my sister has been called a J.R. look-alike countless times!!! I guess the older we get, the more we look like each other!
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - I've been considering taking my Plowline Raglan pattern down for quite a while and I think now is the time. I'll be taking it down in a week or so, but until then I thought I'd let people have one last chance to buy it. There's a link to my shop in my profile, and you can also purchase it through Ravelry. Before purchasing though, I want to clear up that the number for the front and back stitches in Diagram 2 should be "40" as opposed to the "28" that's written. More details are on the Ravelry product comments page if you need it. This little number misprint has really caused quite the kerfuffle and because of things mentioned in my last post, rushed and sharp emails from a few upset customers are getting harder and harder to answer. Life has gone different than I expected and I think cutting out some of the unnecessary tasks will help me cope a little better. I need to clarify though how thankful I am for you knitters who have been so kind and understanding and willing to support my business. This is my highest selling pattern and it's been so nice to see that as I go through the steps of taking it down, realizing that the percentage of unhappy customers is so small, just more than I can really help right now. #knitstagram #knittersofinstagram #plowline #garmenthouse #knit

michaelannn - Michael Ann I will definitely be grabbing your pattern tonight - I have to let you know I've been following your designs for ages and I just love them, thank you so much for sharing them with us and good luck ahead ❤️💕❤️
bispeterson - bispeterson Hey, forward angry emails to me. I might not know anything about knitting but I *can* write.
chloealexahandmade - Chloe Lewis That's such a bummer that it's causing you headaches! But I totally get it. I didn't even notice the diagram said 28 ha...bad pattern reader. But I do have 40 stitches so that's good. I did mess up my raglan decreases. I have almost twice as many stitches on one shoulder than the other 😁 that's what I get for knitting while watching tv.
sokkgirl - LOVE your work and hate that there is this durge to deal with! I've admired (read "stalked") your knitting for a long time! I'm off to buy Plowline--with fondness!
annaallenclothing - Anna McClurg Boo to the unhappy customers! I'm still working on mine! I should have it done by now but I put off knitting and then got side tracked with sock knitting! But I'm going to take it out and try really hard to finish it! Maybe I'll have it ready to wear by spring??? In any case it's an excellent pattern and I've really enjoyed knitting it so far! :) I hope you make more patterns available at some point. Maybe a hat pattern?? ❤️
garmenthouse - garmenthouse @jgourmet @erindando thank you for your kind words about this, it's been a little hard on top of everything else. Originally I was just going to fix the typo in the pattern, but now I'm experiencing some damage from these people questioning other (correct) parts of the pattern like gauge and the neckline directions. I feel like once there's some doubt imposed, people go on a witch hunt! It feels like too many fires for me to put out, but maybe I shouldn't even feel the burden to fix it. I'd love to keep this pattern up, but I'm wondering if not self-publishing and instead submitting it somewhere is the way to go. I'm just not sure how to go about this so there's some researching to do.
jgourmet - julie hoover @garmenthouse I understand... many of us have experienced this to one degree or another, often due to nothing more than knitter error/misunderstanding. It's remarkable considering the amount paid for a pattern is less than buying a latte and a scone. The complainers are always the loudest people in the room, so you can't take it too personally. So many more people have been completely happy and quietly supportive! Keep your chin up! 😘
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - "You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book." Psalm 56:8. As we celebrated the miraculous two years of life for this little one, we held tight to his little body through what we believe was his second seizure. Again, we are brought to this place of waiting. It feels so barren and crushingly lonely. The only comfort I can find is that God sees and knows and feels and hurts right along with us.

missingfillmore - Amy Morrall Thinking of you all. My little nephew has been having seizures too. They are often something that comes along with T21 so he's had steroids and has now been weaned off, we're all praying they don't come back but have been warned they may. Sending you love. Xx
Instagram photo by garmenthouse - Merry Christmas everyone! Now that all the presents have been opened, I can share my favorite knit this holiday - the Baa-ble Hat! This free pattern is popular for a reason - it's so much fun! I made one for each family member and they all fit perfectly, despite the modifications for different sized heads and weights of yarn. In all my Christmas knits this year (Bracken Sweater, Baa-ble hats, Sirdar mittens, a snowman and a reindeer toy), I was able to use yarns I had on hand. It was super satisfying. And now, on to make myself a Baa-ble!

Instagram photo by garmenthouse - Even with the best intentions, Christmas can kind of get away from me before I know it. I decided it was time to sit down and reread this passage that really spoke to me last night from Unwrapping the Greatest Gift, by Ann Voskamp. "This is what the angel said: 'John will help people get their hearts ready for the coming of the greatest Gift ever!' That's really all we have to get ready for Christmas - our hearts. We need to get our hearts ready to welcome Jesus into every part of our lives. And guess how you best get your heart ready for Jesus? Come to Him just as you are." Unwrapped gifts, forgotten birthday presents, neglected baking projects for neighbors, this messy house - I'm going just as I am.

meredith919 - Beautiful!!! What is that yummy cake??
mme.lyons - ⚜🤓 To think, for one moment, about that story of Mary & Joseph & their baby, our Savior, being born in a manger. It changes EVERYTHING when I think on Him. I've been with folks who never give that story a moment's thought. For me, I cannot imagine this holiday without my childhood memories of Christmas musicals @ church & manger scenes & school plays reenacting the Wise men and shepherd boy...all the Biblical stories of Christmas. It slows the pace of the season & gives so much meaning when otherwise there doesn't seem to be any besides commercialism. My heart is ready to welcome my King, Jesus!
