- As I write this, I sit in an Onsen (hot spring) in Japan and mull over everything I’ve learnt in the past two weeks having attended two amazing and totally different photography retreats @cosmos_gathering and @wolvesworkshop I learnt so much but one thing stuck in my mind as a consistent theme - to be vulnerable and show it and not be afraid to show it. So this photo sprang to mind, taken by the immensely talented @darcybenincosa who I am currently helping out with on her @thepathworkshops in Japan. I sit here, vulnerable in an empty onsen, ready for the next step of my career, knowing what I have to do next. Take care of myself, show my vulnerability, be kind, open-hearted, fierce. Who’s ready to embrace their vulnerability and human-ness with me? Ps posting this totally terrifies me to my core. I took a huge step out of my comfort zone when D’Arcy asked me to do this but I’m always up for a challenge and push myself out of my comfort zone. So now it’s your turn! I’m glad I did. Also this totally made me understand what a hard job modelling is and now I have a better connection with my clients because I understand how they feel. Try standing in front of the camera every now and then. As photographers we spend so much time behind the lens it can cause a disconnect.

- I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’m not naturally good at taking portraits because interacting on that level of intimacy makes me uncomfortable. I always wanted to do more portraits to capture the essence of a person, create real-life magic, authenticity and wait for the right moment rather than have them pose. To be a Voyeur and leave an air of mystery. So now I think I’m going to listen to myself for a change rather than fight against it. Thank you to @cosmos_gathering @fluidadesign @lscarfiotti @beksmithweddings @cristinanunez62 for teaching me this. #cosmosgathering

- The Secret Garden Retreat is now open for registration! Link in bio. - I'm hoping the weather is nice wherever you may be. I'm in Bristol currently on a hen do and the weather is not raining so that's a plus! Whatever you may be doing why not check out the retreat that @floresie and I are hosting together in Champagne, France September 25-28. Laetitia is kindly letting us use her garden to forage and pick our own flowers where she will teach you how to make floral designs that are wild and free. I will be teaching you photography in any medium of your choosing should that be film, digital, your phone or a toy camera! - We have a gorgeous guest house we will be staying in and taking trips out to visit local sights and sounds. - We can wait and we hope to see you there! 😊️ - #thesecretgardenretreat #thehikaruilifestyle #aujardindeflorésie #underthefloralspell - Photo by @annatereshinaphoto

- Update for people with Eczema I think I've cured it for now!: So my mom always keeps up with Japanese science and what helps our health and how we can fix something. I'm too stubborn to listen because I think I know what I'm doing. This isn't based on anything special but my mom has always told me honey is a healer and this time I listened. I had a really stressful week about two months ago and my eczema flared up in places I'd never seen before - like on my face. It was so bad I refused to go outside because I felt hideous. Then I realised I needed to stop being a fool and that I was fine and other people have it worse than me so I just needed to get over myself and find out how to fix it. I tried everything. Most of it went away as I began to de-stress but the part around my lips got worse and it was painful, cracking and spreading. So... I tried honey. And it's literally almost gone. WOOOOOP!! Moral of his story is: listen to your mom and honey is the best. Lather that shit everywhere. . Took this pic at #thepathworkshops with @darcybenincosa and @thepathworkshops @juuditsiibak

- So I was going through all my images, choosing my favourite ones. I realised about 90% of them were film. So film I shall be shooting for the rest of my trip except for a few so I can share my journey. But I'm gonna be more picky now. I don't feel right when I shoot only digital. I like to create magic and mystery and a bit of fantasy and film manages to do that even when I capture the everyday object or scene. I love the grain. I love the softness. I love its timelessness. I love the way it captures colour like no other. I love that this image will be interpreted by each person in different ways. Imagination.
