- Y’all.. I am struggling with this new flower farming craze sweeping the nation. At least once a day someone tells me they want to do what we do for a living, or that it is their dream to farm or that they wish they could “just play around in the dirt all day”. And that’s great but it makes me feel insane.. like I feel like people are like weird zombies or something just lurching for my soul and then I also feel guilty that I kind of hate farming sometimes and feel like I’m supposed to feel like the luckiest 👩🏻‍🌾in the world or something. .. like I’m really really grateful I am I am but I’m also quite resentful at times for a multitude of legit reasons. The volume of emails and calls I get from folks wanting to just ask me a few questions or for some quick advice or (the best!) to stop by the farm for a little visit just to see what we do and pick our brains-it seriously blows my mind. We work here and live here and I’m glad that it looks dreamy but please know that #1) this is our bizness Insta account and we have to make it look dreamy because we need to sell our crops and #2) we are just as stressed out as you are. Anyways. Please if you are feeling called to farm flowers- do please reach out to the other folks in your area doing what you want to do, but I suggest being very up front about your intentions and most importantly offer them some work trade or money for their intellectual property, Time and expertise- like many of you have- thank you! And know that gardening for your soul is amazing & that gardening to make money is really ducking hard! Ok! Y’all feel me? Where you are trying to farm and where and how you will sell your goods are very powerful things to consider and yes the world really does need more flowers and more people doing what they love but please know it’s all curated to look EASY but nothing about it is easy..& mom guilt remains a constant struggle and I see friends about three times a year and omgodess I need a vacation! Love to all and to all a goodnight ✌🏼

- ✨🌿✨🕊✨🌿✨ so stoked to get these photos from Kim + Chris’s sweet backyard wedding this May. Thank you @loveflorafauna I love them all! I love working with local flowers but if it is your wedding day dream to have something that we don’t grow or can’t source locally then by all means I will get it for you! Kim was set on eucalyptus and lisianthus and I love how it all turned out. Looking forward to peony season and May weddings! We’re all booked for April and May is getting close💖💖💖

- Saw this on @ashevilletrails by @fabian.crow and had to repost. I’ve been trying to capture the glory of this season for y’all and haven’t been able to get it right. But this, this is what’s happening and it’s all the jewel toned realness you could have ever hoped for. We had our first air bnb guests this weekend and they were stellar! Only weekend left is that of Thanksgiving so check the link in bio if you’re interested. Would be a sweet getaway for those wanting/needing to escape family obligations 😬

- June 2012. Our first summer farming our own land, this photo was taken by the inimitable @patrickcavanbrown for @wncmagazine. I of course did not like this photo at the time but now I look back and love it. My last summer before becoming pregnant with Garnet, (something I struggled so hard to think could ever happen), the land so new to us, the wild gifts to come. Our dog Rosie is still kickin’ it somehow... last Friday she had a seizure and we totally thought it was the end. And then 24hrs later she got up to drink water and ate a bunch the next day. Night before last she killed a possum🤦🏻‍♀️then last night seemed to be struggling pretty hard again. It’s so hard to tell.. it’s in their DNA to keep going and she has always been super strong and vibrant. All I know is I need to stay grounded for myself and for her and our family and let some things go that are not serving me anymore. This picture reminded me of the other time in my life that I needed to do the same. 🎶It’s the ropes and the reins and the joy and the pain and they call the thing RODEO🎶 Garth y’all.
