- Friday...We made it guys! Been a little while since I did this last, so how about a #fridayintroductions 👋🏼 Hi! My name is Alana and I’m the face to the hands that make the things... I am 31 (also, literally had to stop and count from my birth year to remember my age 🤦🏼‍♀️), married with one kiddo, one dog, and two cats! I love to knit and will occasionally crochet. My favorite thing about Instagram is meeting new people to share fiber arts love with and being inspired by others ❤️ My hope is that some of the things I make will inspire others or lead them to new patterns, yarns, colors, etc. that they maybe wouldn’t have before. I love seeing what others find beautiful and worthwhile of their time and effort to make. It’s truly amazing what our minds and hands can create! Say hi below and let me know....🤔 what is your favorite yarn to work with or favorite item to make?

- Here’s the triangle scarf the tassels went on 🙌🏻 This thing is definitely a favorite! It’s big and cozy and the best fall color! I wear it out and around the house 😊 Love, love, love it! . . Also, @of.june.knits (she has a great feed, check her out!) tagged me for #wind and I just got home from dinner with the fam. So currently couch lounging while I peruse instagram and think of what #wip to work on for the night ☺️ What are you guys up to? @oneofakate @sosknittingcompany @unwind.your.mind . . Pattern: Coffee Shop Wrap Designer: @twoofwands **Very slightly modified because I only used one color.

- So, can I just use fall leaves as pom poms? Colors just don’t get much better than that ❤️🍁 Yesterday @anjknits tagged me for #widn and I was finishing up this seed stitch beanie. It’s my favorite pattern because it’s simple, squishy, slouchy, and warm 😊 I actually don’t usually put a pom on this hat, but maybe I’ll try it with this one! Thanks for the tag @anjknits! Go check her stuff out. She knits beautifully and she’s currently working something up with some gorgeous hand dyed yarn 😍 If you ladies would enjoy sharing, I always love seeing what you are working on! @handsofzeal @chelsea_knit_photography @kerimalley @byondthebrushbybarks

- Decided to start a slouchy seed stitch hat with some sunny yellow squish I already had in my stash 😊 A couple of my last projects have been bigger and a bit frustrating so I wanted something I could finish quickly! Also, taking a little cue from my notebook... I think perfect might be a real thing, but it’s subjective; one person’s perfect isn’t another’s. Find your own perfect and what works for you by setting aside comparison and judgment... “perfection” and happiness will follow such a practice 😌

- I learned something new today. That could have been it...just a new skill, but there was a moment of realization for me, and with tomorrow being #worldmentalhealthday I didn't want this message to get lost. I have put off starting this particular sweater for some time because it called for a "2x2 tubular cast on". I've never used this method before and after watching a few tutorials I decided it was too intimidating, so I kept putting it off. A few times I thought that maybe I should just do a regular cast on and knit ribbing...I mean, that would have been easier and faster; I already knew how to do it. But today I decided I was going to figure it out. So I sat down in front of my computer with my yarn and tools and learned it. After avoiding it for so long, I made a few mistakes trying, by the outcome is beautiful... struggling with a severe anxiety disorder for over 2 years now has mirrored this moment today. I have faced shitty days where I avoided things because of it. But, when I push through and do the hard work with therapy and do my best to tell the anxiety to "f*@$ off" (some days quite literally 🙈) there is usually something beautiful on the other side ❤️ If you made it through all that, and you face a mental illness everyday, please know that "weak" is the last thing that describes you because weak people can't handle what we do! You are strong and important and special. You are on assignment to be more compassionate and understanding to those around you through the suffering you've endured. Lots of love ❤️
