- One year ago, Aric and I were getting ready to celebrate Bastille Day with friends in Nice, France and didn't realize that it would change our lives forever. We watched the sunset over this calm beautiful city which was followed by a fireworks show. Aric and I headed back to the hotel and we got caught up in swarms of people running and screaming. There are no words to describe that moment. Later we learned that we had found ourselves in the aftermath of a horrid event---a terrorist attack that left 86 dead and almost 500 injured. I feel so incredibly blessed that we were kept safe. Truth: coming home after such an event was hard for me...my anxiety was at an all time high and I definitely struggled for awhile to get myself together. This eventually led to me rediscovering my Faith and I feel so grateful for that. I also now know that you can't take life for granted...you have to live every moment to the fullest and hug your friends and family (and fur babies) often. Today, instead of celebrating Bastille Day, I am keeping all of those involved in the Nice terrorist attack in my prayers as well as this world that we live in.
