- Today my #FlashbackFriday is also a #FuckCancerFriday: this was me, two years ago today. After months of tests and doctor's evaluations, I began a 6-month #chemotherapy regimen, followed later by two #surgeries and daily #radiation. Of course, since this was my first day of #chemo so this was before my hair started to fall out and I started to feel all of the other side effects like #extreme nausea, extreme #fatigue, hot flashes, crazy dreams, weight fluctuation, mouth sores, and a thousand more little things. Here are some tips to help reduce the symptoms or battle it before it hits you! -Pressure Points: Did you know that there is a pressure point on the inner aspect of your wrist that can help relieve nausea! How to find it, place the first three fingers of your right hand on the inner aspect of your left wrist with the ring finger and the right hand directly over the wrist. Under the index finger will be the acupuncture point. Press firmly to relieve nausea. -Eat Early: Stash 100 percent whole-grain crackers bedside and eat a few as soon as you awake. It helps to get something in your stomach before you start your day. -Go for Balance: Aim for a diet high in protein (such as chicken) and complex carbohydrates (such as whole grains and vegetables). - I just found out I'm a little anemic... that was quite a shock ☹️. The reason: stress. Even the healthiest eater can get sick if she's under stress. My doctor prescribed some iron pills, and I hate taking pills. My plan: drinking beet juice, and control my stress level. Beets are excellent source of vitamin C and Iron, so it's perfect to treat my anemia. Juice of the day: 1 beet, 1 orange, 2 carrots, 1/2 cucumber, celery and kale.
