- Deployment necessities - medication...because it’s really important to NOT get sick and become a patient yourself. This is just a basic bundle that I take with me on deployments. It includes my thyroid meds, multivitamins, probiotics, antimalarial meds, a few sleeping pills just in case, a broad spectrum antibiotic, ibuprofen, an inhaler for asthma/respiratory concerns, and fluconazole (because although its ridiculously rare and I’ll likely never need it, no one wants to have a yeast infection in the field!). I also take oral rehydration salt, water purification tablets and Benadryl (because my face got destroyed by bugs on my last day working in Sierra Leone and Benadryl was the only thing that made me look less like Will Smith’s allergic reaction face in the movie Hitch). This weekend I am going to Chicago for Church, and so I will be living off of hotel food, and won’t really have any opportunity to find healthier options... unless I bring them with me! - - I obviously don’t want to let the fact that I am going out of town to be the reason I fall off of the bandwagon with my health and fitness, so I plan to bring a couple things to help me out! I am probably still going to eat some of the food provided (and maybe a little dessert) but I will have much less than I would otherwise, and then just supplement with my own food! - -I am bringing: 🍏a Kale and Spinach mixture 🍎Apples 🍏Cut Veggies 🍎A homemade trail-mix of almonds, craisins, apple crisps, and a few dark chocolate chunks! 🍏bananas 🍎Blue corn tortilla chips 🍏Medjool dates-I am ADDICTED TO THESE. They taste like candy... it’s a problem 😬 🍎green beans 🍏avocados - For anything needing to be refrigerated, I will be using a cooler and then using the hotel fridge. Everything else I will have a crate or bag to put them in!!! - - I am kind if excited for the challenge of eating healthy when my options are restricted, I really don’t know why😂😂😂
