Instagram photo by cocoandclickLast night I saw a disturbing image on a friends page. I'm sure you all have seen the collage of the 4 girls representing the "14 missing in DC in the last 24 hours." I was shocked, disgusted and stopped scrolling to Google. What I read wasn't the story I started to see circulating all over the Internet. Today, it's a trend but these are people's lives. These are real families looking for answers. So instead of reposting and sharing, I read. What I found out was very disturbing. THIS IMAGE IS FALSE. THE STORY BEHIND THE IMAGE IS FALSE. The conversation is great but, we need to really understand what we are talking about. One of the children, Relisha Rudd, who has been missing for 3 years. Washington Post states Relisha "lived with her mother at a homeless shelter at the old D.C. General Hospital, has been the subject of an intense search. She disappeared while she was spending time with a shelter janitor, Kahlil Tatum, 51, who shot his wife and then himself. Relisha simply vanished." There's an image of Phoenix Coldon who has been missing since December 18, 2011. 2011, people! It's 2017!! Phoenix is now 23 and still missing. Phoenix Colden "was last seen in the driveway of the family’s St. Louis County home at about 3 p.m. Dec. 18. Her mother said she was sitting in her vehicle one minute and the next, she was gone. Coldon said she initially thought her daughter had gone to the store but when she did not return that night, Coldon said she reported her daughter and her black 1998 Chevy Blazer missing to police the following morning." The Huffington Post also said "On Jan. 1, Coldon’s family found out the missing Chevy Blazer had been impounded at 6:23 p.m. the day she disappeared. It was discovered about a 25-minute drive from her home, at Ninth and St. Clair in East St. Louis. The keys were in the ignition with the vehicle running and the driver’s door open." Her mother was hoaxed out of life savings from a scam artist just trying to get attention. Her mother still runs a Facebook Page with updates and heartfelt messages to her daughter, in hopes and prayers she is still alive and able to see it. (Continued in my comments ...)
Instagram photo by pro_black_teachings"Brothers and sisters, I'm here to tell you that I charge the White man. I charge the White man with being the greatest murderer on earth. I charge the White man with being the greatest kidnapper on earth. There is no place in this world that that man can go and say he created peace and harmony. Everywhere he's gone he's created havoc. Everywhere he's gone he's created destruction. So I charge him. I charge him with being the greatest kidnapper on this earth. I charge him with being the greatest murderer on this earth. I charge him with being the greatest robber and enslaver on this earth. I charge the White man with being the greatest swine-eater on this earth, the greatest drunkard on this earth. He can't deny the charges. You can't deny the charges. We're the living proof of those charges. You and I are the proof. You're not an American, you are the victim of America. You didn't have a choice coming over here. He didn't say, "Black man, Black woman, come on over and help me build America." He said, "Nigger, get down in the bottom of that boat and I'm taking you over there to help me build America." Being born here does not make you an American. I'm not an American. You're not an American. You are one of twenty-two million Black people who are the victims of America. You and I, we've never seen any democracy. We ain't seen no democracy in the cotton fields of Georgia. That wasn't no democracy down there. We didn't see any democracy on the streets of Harlem and the streets of Brooklyn and the streets of Detroit and Chicago. That wasn't democracy down there. No, we've never seen democracy; all we've seen is hypocrisy. We don't see any American dream. We've experienced only the American nightmare." - Malcolm X
