- Albury, located on the banks of the Murray River in southern New South Wales is a regional city and gateway to the Riverina if travelling north. Having lived there once for a couple of years, it is a former hometown of mine, along with Wagga Wagga, London, Sydney and Perth. Albury is a 5 1/2 hour drive south of Sydney (Australia’s first, greatest and biggest capital city). It is also close to many places and areas including the Hume Weir (great for water sports), Falls Creek (winter sports), many national parks, and the Rutherglen Wine region. There are many beautiful old buildings in Albury, some of which are pictured in this post. The city and people of Albury deserve congratulations in preserving these wonderful assets from a bygone era. Driving up the main street of Albury, Dean Street, one can see the unsightly and sterile monstrosity’s that have been allowed to be developed including the Commercial Club. Colonial, heritage inspired, and art deco designed buildings in all cities throughout Australia require preservation at all costs, against the greed and negligence of hungry, money grabbing developers. The National Trust really needs to do more to preserve beautiful buildings from these vultures. As a regional centre, Albury is wonderfully located and without too many peers. A visit to this great inland city of Australia is thoroughly recommended. #albury #newsouthwales #murrayriver #sydney #australia #heritage #heritagebuilding #colonial #artdeco #architecture #architecturephotography #architecturelover #buildings #building #buildingporn #design #artdecodesign #nationalparks #nationaltrust #preservation #myhometown #humeweir #fallscreek #wine #watersports #snow #conservation

- As you wend your way through the mostly flat Somerset countryside, the most visible feature for miles around is an oddly shaped and terraced hill rising 518 feet above the Somerset Levels with a ruin of a 14th century stone church on top...one of my personal holy of holies, Glastonbury Tor... • • • #glastonburytor #somerset #england #uk #europe #tor #medieval #church #nationaltrust #travel #travelphotography #explore #exploreeverything #exploretocreate #neverstopexploring #justgoshoot #instatravel #hpphotosmart #pictureoftheday #picoftheday #photooftheday
