- I'm going to declare it out loud: We need to put an end to the glorification of multitasking. . I find it fascinating that in one portion of the Internet, you're going to find articles with 10 tips on better multitasking and how to boost your productivity with multitasking but you'll find another corner of the internet that talks about how we're all burned out, exhausted, and bitter from too much on our plates. And did you ever notice that women seem to be lauded as the most able to multitask and there's been a host of psychological essays lately about how we as women are crumbling under the weight of no longer being able to do it all? (Google the phrase "the mental load." You're welcome) • All of us, but especially women and mothers, it's time to say no to multitasking. Did you know that studies have shown multitasking isn't all that beneficial anyway? In reality, it makes you 40% less productive when it comes to the whole of the tasks at hand, you lose more hours due to being more prone to distractions, you make more mistakes, projects from start to finish actually take longer, and most importantly, it sacrifices your physical and mental wellbeing. • What would happen if we slowed down and simplified and simply focused on the task at hand and gave that ONE focus our undivided attention while we used our voice to command everything else to wait? What if we honored our morning rituals instead of infiltrating them with checking emails? What if we focused on our big project without trying to interject those loose ends that just end up tangling our time all together? Instead of multitalking, what if we honored single-tasking instead? I wonder what kind of peace we may infuse into our productivity if we mindfully narrowed our focus and gave each task its due attention and time. . . . . #multitasking #singletasking #productivity #createcommune #documentyourdays #documentlife #motherhoodrising #motherhoodsimplified #motherhoodthroughinstagram #our_everyday_moments #slowliving #slowlife #mindfulness #simplelife #simpleliving #minimalism #theartofslowliving #thebloomforum #thebest_capture #theeverydayproject #theslowdowncollective #childhoodunplugged #candidmoments

- So two screaming kids on the M80 was not fun! Just back from the safari park and need to finish packaging a few orders. I've recently started an Etsy page, as well as exhibiting at markets such as @urbanmarketglasgow, @teagreenevents and @milngaviemakersmarket. I've also started selling my work in wee shops (my work will be in @atticsaltsemporium in the lovely wee town of Dornoch for the next few months), but it's hard work and takes a lot of juggling. I do everything myself from the photography, branding and promoting to packing orders, and designing my website. One of the challenges of working from home is that you turn your back for 3 mins and your lovely branded stickers have been nicked by a tiny one. #smctuesdaytakeover #shoplocal #multitasking #smallbusiness #branding #jugglingwithkids
