- 💥Prepping those Hips Properly💥 . Bands can be a great tool for warming up hips and low back if used correctly. So when you’re performing these drills be sure to avoid some common mistakes. . ✅ Performing a lateral walk, make sure your knees stay over your feet/ankles. While I prefer to band the feet, if it’s more comfortable to band above the knees this is fine. ❌ Which ever you choose, Don’t lead with the foot as you walk. If you allow the foot to get in front of the knee, you’ll fall into hip internal rotation and won’t hit the glutes. . ✅ Walk in a slight hinge position. This will allow you to load the hips better. ❌ If you walk to upright, you’ll get less benefit and may overload the knee. . ✅Walk slow with no momentum. ❌ If you allow yourself to use momentum, you’ll loose much of the benefit of this priming drill. . BONUS drill at the end. The standing clamshell is a great way to challenge the balance and coordination of the hips. In the first part of the motion you’re working on open chain strength of the glutes, while one the second part of the motion you’re working the closed chain strength of the glutes of the planted leg as well as balance.💯 I love this one. . 🔥So don’t forget about those basics!
