- Recently I moved to St. Louis to spend time with family before heading to Chicago in the Spring. My wife and I have struggled with where we planned to go for a few years. Being far from our families in troubled times just wasn't possible, so we ruled out both coasts, for now. Chicago is close enough to family that visiting won't be tough, and the city offers so much possibility. Preparing for the move, familial drama, and working to improve myself has caused a lot of turbulence within my mind, so I've found myself turning to meditation and yoga as my solace. This space has been set aside for just that, a deeper practice of looking within myself. A place to calm the chaos. It is adorned with special items from loved ones, pictures of souls who have passed but still inspire me, and bits of the earth and sea I've collected on my travels. It sits within an east facing window, so I may greet the sun each morning as I set my intentions for the day. It is lovely, and peaceful. - "Stop overthinking, worrying, and stressing yourself out. Everything will be okay. It just doesn't seem like it at the moment, but when you let go and feel that sense of inner ease, great things will start to happen. . Resistance: Did you know most of what we resist or fight, continue to happen in our lives? Just like a magnet we pull towards us the thoughts and feelings we constantly project. Each thought you have is connected to an emotion. That thought triggers the emotion, which than triggers the thought again. This is where you can realize that all your emotions are connected to your thoughts, which can become a negative or positive habit in your thinking. . Overthinking: Most people don't realize the emotion they are feeling is coming from a thought. This is a never ending cycle which we call overthinking. I've learned that changing the thought, in turn changes the emotion which no longer triggers those same thoughts. Start there first! . Start Letting Go: Letting go puts ease into your heart, it makes you a believer of possibilities. Letting go is the inner action that removes the fear, upset, and tunnel vision. The moment you let go, you restore your ability to see clearly. You become creative and able to discover solutions that you could never have seen before. . Trust the process: The more you trust, the more you are able to let go, and the more life turns out okay. This in turn reinforces trusting. When you don't trust, you fight, resist, hang on, and withdraw. This makes everything worse. Ultimately, trust is a choice. It’s something you create. It's a declaration.
