- Back on preschool garden duty as Miss Carrot (the kids have a hard time saying Kath, so we settled on Carrot). We don't have much luck growing things in our veggie patch except for parsley. With the extraordinary amount of millipedes that live inside its not surprising. For some reason I thought toilet rolls might work as a temporary fix until we find something better. So far so good. And brassicas are on their way! In the meantime, tabbuleh anyone?...🌱🌱🌱 #gardenduty #volunteer #carrotduty #preschool #trying #growing #learning #parsley #broccoli #cauliflower #lettuce #gardening #gardenfun #goodfun

- 🇫🇷 Reservations at #Septime weren't easy to come by but seeing that it ranks 35 in the "World’s 50 Best Restaurant" list, with one #Michelin star, I can understand. Since I'm based in Toronto, I woke up in the middle of the night to call exactly 21 days prior to my scheduled visit. Took about 45 minutes but I finally got through and booked a table for lunch. The lunch menu consists of 4 courses for 42€. You get to pick from your choice of two main courses and the rest is the chef's choice (of course, taking into account any food allergies/restrictions). The first course was #Octopus. It paired well with the tomato jelly infused with lemon olive oil. The sea salt lightly sprinkled on top enhanced the flavors even more. The Mexican cucumbers and fresh almonds added a crunchy texture to the dish. A great cool and refreshing start to a meal on a summer day. The second course was a steamed #lettuce served white wine butter and mixed with #bottarga (cured mullet roe). The bottarga was a little chewy and slightly salty why a nutty aftertaste. The butter sauce had a slight acidity to it. This rich citrus infused sauce nicely covered the lettuce. The earthy, warm flavours were a nice contrast to the first course. A smoked young #hen with #chanterelle #mushroom sauce followed. The skin was crispy and the meat was moist and tender. The sea salt on top made it even more delicious. On the side, there was the most amazing #eggplant that literally melted in your mouth. It was topped with crunchy toasted #hazelnuts. The marigold leaves on top added a light touch to this rich, earthy dish. For dessert, there was #icecream infused with fig leaves, #berries with nectarine, and a #crumble made with ancient grains and toasted buckwheat. This was just ok. I didn't sense anything very special about the ice cream and the berries were a little tart. The dish did have an interesting array of textures and flavors though. All in all, a very good meal. Service was EXCELLENT and not pretentious in the least. I would not hesitate to come back but do think it's a little over hyped. #paris #france #parisfood #foodie #foodstagram #foodporn #travelling #traveleats #europe #worlds50best
