- InSOLE - Adidas Superstar: In the late 70s a new movement hit the scene and was taking New York by storm: Hip-Hop. But it wasn't just the music that made Hip-Hop a culture, it was the elements, the D'Jing, the Graffiti, Breakdancing and the MCing. Hip-Hop, still in its infancy, didn't have an identity in the early years, so rappers would perform on stage dressed in costumes (Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5, Cold Crush Brothers, Soul Sonic Force) similar to Parliament Funk. In the early 80s, Run DMC burst on the scene with a variety of hits but one of their biggest hits was My Adidas. The song My Adidas was a response to Dr.Deas "Felon Sneakers" which was warning people of crime related dangers associated with sneakers and how the sneaker culture and Hip-Hop culture were blending. In 1986, at a sold out show at Madison Square Garden, Run DMC showed the execs at Adidas how much of an impact Hip-Hop and their music had on the sneaker world when they made the entire audience take off their sneakers and wave them in the air. The stunned execs were shocked to see a stadium filled with Adidas and wasted no time signing Run DMC to endorsement deals. #sneakerskickslife #insole #rundmc #jammasterjay #myadidas #hiphop #breakdancing #graffiti #djing #kicks #shoes #kicks0l0gy #kickstagram #shoesaddict #defjam #queens #hollis #newyork #legends #sneakerporn #sneakerheads #walkthisway #70s #80s
