- Who days you can't have your cake, and eat it too⁉️ . Truth is I don't care for cake, but I love me some pie. Life is about balance, and since I've been pretty consistent in keeping my nutrition on point the pie this season is earned! #earnednotgiven #workforit #balance #pumpkin #family #celebrate #behappy #modify #justdoit #caliabycarrie #schwans #NovembertoRemember #instamom #instalike #instalove #follow #instafitness #chefYOU #mua #jillianmorales #texas #sweatandchampagne #Chandonsquad

- 🔥For all the coffee lovers🔥 (Please don't cry 😢) Chronic coffee consumption increases insulin resistance, a situation in which the body cannot effectively deliver glucose into the cells of the body. In this situation, insulin, which helps transport glucose into the cells, cannot do its job well because the body’s cells are less receptive. This typically occurs with a diet high in refined sugars and starches. Thus, the body must release ever-larger amounts of insulin to do the job. Like parents tuning out their screaming toddler, the body becomes less and less sensitive to insulin’s effects, which means more circulating glucose, which means more insulin release… and so on. Combine the standard Western diet high in refined carbohydrates with stress and a high caffeine intake, and you have a potential recipe for metabolic disaster. Insulin stimulates the release of interleukin-6 (IL-6), which is a Th2 cytokine (a cell signaling molecule). If IL-6 is chronically elevated (in this case, from high insulin levels), it may lead to a Th2 dominance and potential hypersensitivity from an overzealous antibody response. This can result in acquired sensitivities to foods and chemicals. Interleukin-6 also stimulates the release of cortisol, which, as a glucocorticoid hormone, increases the body’s glucose level. This leads to an increased demand for insulin, which is problematic because of the insulin resistance that started the cascade in the first place. Let’s recap: a diet high in refined sugars and starches leads to more circulating glucose. More glucose means more insulin needed to dispose of it. More insulin means cells tune out, which means even more insulin dumped into the bloodstream (especially if people continue to eat this high-carbohydrate diet). More insulin means insulin resistance — possibly aggravated by high caffeine consumption. More insulin means more IL-6 and more inflammation and hypersensitivity. More IL-6 means more cortisol, which means more glucose… and here we are, back at the beginning of a very nasty cycle.

- Sometimes people who used to know me before I became athletic will be like “wow, it’s so cool that you lift weights but I’d never know how to get into something like that.” In honor of that sentiment, I want to make a post about how we all have to start somewhere and for a lot of us that tends to be the bottom (myself included). When I first began lifting weights, I was very fortunate to have a few close friends with knowledge of the sport who really did help me get started. Still, I had to do a lot of research on my own. Two years ago, I had textbook horrible form on nearly every single one of my lifts. I knew what I was supposed to be doing, but my mobility, flexibility, and strength just wasn’t quite there yet. The picture on the left is me doing pretty much everything you could possibly do wrong with a deadlift— rounded back, hyperextended neck, legs too straight. I was only lifting 125lb for a set of 4. On the right is a picture from this past week; I’m sumo deadlifting 135lb for a set of 5 with nearly perfect form. There’s no big secret to being good at shit. If you want to be good at something you have to practice earnestly and consistently. That’s it. #hustle #grind #form #deadlift #5footfit

- CURRENT PHYSIQUE: Lately I've been super stressed. So I haven't been eating as many calories as I'd like to be eating in a day. I've definitely lost some size and definition. After my move I will be getting back on track. I hope to put on 7-10lbs of muscle mass. It's very hard for me to gain weight. Due to my extremely fast metabolism I really have to throw down to gain weight. I often feel over stuffed by the amount of calories I should be consuming. That's life though, you win some you lose some, you gain some you lose some. The point is you never stop. It's a lifestyle there is no end! #kisses #XO #spreadlove #bulkingseason #slimthick #goals
