Instagram photo by skncarebumsRemove The Makeup: 💄💋 Slathering on a primer, foundation, concealer, pressed-powder, bronzer, blush, highlighter, eyeshadow & mascara is all good fun, until we realise we should take it off at some point. Now I’ve had my experiences & fallen asleep with a full face of glamour still on (haven’t we all?) even though that little skincare obsessed voice in my head is begging me to take it off before my eyelids close. I cannot stress enough how important it is to remove your makeup before you go to sleep! While you might wake up the next morning in your smudge-proof makeup looking like a fair 8, your skin will be anything but a 2 💁🏼Sleeping in your makeup overnight isn’t going to cause drastic, life-altering effects straight away. However, it will cause your pores to be clogged up with all that cosmetic goodness I mentioned earlier, (seriously you don’t want your pores to be highlighted, nobody wants to draw attention to that!) The clogging of pores not only looks terrible but it also causes a build-up of bacteria which can cause pimples & acne breakouts. Another unwanted effect is that your complexion will appear dull due to the oils & dead skin cells resting on the surface of your skin that haven’t been properly removed. One final effect of sleeping in your makeup is that it ages your skin way beyond your years. The makeup you spent hours on perfecting last night for that party that you didn’t bother to wash off, is going to become trapped along with dirt in your skin & breakdown the skin barrier more rapidly, thus creating the appearance of more wrinkles. So please, before you even get into your comfy PJ’s, wipe that makeup off so you & your skin can repair with ease! 💛✌🏼️😁
