- One of the best things I've ever done is getting my diving certificate. What better place to do that then the Great Barrier Reef? It is the most incredible feeling to float underwater and just be on a marine safari (incl. sharks 😍🙈😅) . . . Did you know: up to ~ 70% of the oxygen you breathe 😤 comes from the ocean? 😥🌍 it is tiny tiny little green plants (like Phytoplankton) that produce this much oxygen and are of such a huuuuge importance in the (marine) food chain! . . 🐠 Seeing the reef was unbelievable, yet the damage and bleaching is already visible... the corals are dying and the cyclone hitting Airlie Beach later did not make it better... the storms hitting America in the last weeks were of a force and power never seen before. Floods are more common than ever, atmospheric rivers bring rainfall of unimaginable intention, megafires are breaking out around the world and ice shelves the sizes of small countries are breaking off and flooding out into the ocean, rising the sea level. Imagine all the cities built near an ocean... Relocation, famine, disease being a few consequences. . . 🔎 I cannot believe that there is still doubt about this scientific fact (!) called "climate change" out there. Where does this scepticism come from? What sense does it make, NOT to try? If we could only all contribute one little piece and fight together against an unstoppable disaster... let's do something- NOW! . If we screw this one up we will consciously destroy this planet. . . Maybe just try to make a small change for yourself? Avoid useless plastic bags, have some meat free days a week, more days of biking to work than taking the car? A small step for each single person, a big step for our Earth and it's beautiful nature. And let's be quick. Please. . . . . . . #climatechange #stopclimatechange #parisagreement #twodegrees #statement #letsdothis #change #environment #protectnature #diving #greatbarrierreef #padi #certificate #cairns #australia #workandtravel #stem #scicomm #didyouknow #oxygen #breathing #phytoplankton #coralreefs #dyingreef #dontscrewthisup #vereintekräfte #marinelife #marinesafari #protectearth #plasticfree
