- Traditional Kettle Bell Swings are one of the hardest exercises I've come across. Reason? FORM. Performing this exercise or any of its variations can be tricky and cause for injury if not performed properly. With the traditional it is most important to focus on the the hip hinge allowing the force from your glutes and hamstrings to drive up the weight. What's not shown here ....because I don't have a dope ass camera and tripod (yet 😼) ...but is equally as important as the hip hinge is the positioning of the kettle bell as you swing it parallel to the ground you don't want the kettle bell to hang as this will place pressure on your wrists. Additionally you don't want the upper body doing the work when coming up - leave that for your lower body. However ☝🏽 you will feel this in your upper body as the weight swings down and you hinge forward. Again, FORM is keyyyyy! What's your favorite variation with kettle bells? - After some squats and hack squats I like to hit the hamstrings directly with the RDL. I prefer the barbell and to keep my knees unlocked and shins back. Keep your back flat and stop lowering when you feel your mid or upper start to pull or round. When raising the bar keep your feet flat and bias push through your heels.
