Instagram photo by essential.lifestylistI've never been a fan of hand sanitizers but now as a mom I find myself in so many situations where soap & water isn't always easily available and I really need to clean my babies hands because they're touching everything, eating, rubbing their eyes, etc. 👐🏻 Up until last year (when the FDA finally banned it) many sanitizers were made with an antibiotic called Triclosan -which was meant to prevent the growth of bacteria. However, overexposure to antibiotics can lead to bacterial RESISTANCE, making it more difficult and even impossible to treat. When you're over using antibiotics it will also kill your GOOD bacteria which you need to help fight against your bad bacteria. It can also tamper with testosterone and thyroid levels among other things. ** Triclosan is still allowed in hospitals and food service settings just not over the counter** 🤦🏻‍♀️New antibacterial ingredients are still getting a free pass here by the FDA even though they aren't allowed in other countries such as Canada or Japan. These new ingredients are still associated with the development of resistant bacteria, known to trigger allergies, and considered especially unsafe to people with skin conditions such as eczema. So I've finally found a natural solution to clean my babes little hands when we're out and about! 💃🏼I mix aloe vera gel with Melaleuca. Melaleuca is a powerful and safe antibacterial (also good for MSRA). I also add a bit of Onguard which is dōTERRAs immunity oil which is a blend of wild orange, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary. Store in a glass bottle and you're good to go! :)
