- Gizmo is my "staring off into the sunset" kitty, since he always seems to pose like this 🐱 this little man has had a tough road, from a URI when he was 3 1/2 weeks old to ringworm that is just finally, barely healing despite 4+ different treatments over the last 2 months ☹️ . In addition to that, Giz is unique. Since he was around 6w, he always seemed easily irritated, and when in that state he bites - and hard. He was always allowed to cuddle with me and have free time, and his sudden ferocity came on out of nowhere. My only guess is that this is from a combination of minimal interaction during his development (the first week or two when he got sick, as he was so lethargic that he mainly slept, I only handled him for feedings and some cuddles) mixed with his fierce little personality. It baffles me, since he is not the only kitten to be quarantined like that and others I've had have the sweetest temperaments, but regardless, Gizmo seems to require special handling. . He often cries for me, as if he wants to be held, only to bite me repeatedly when doing so. I have eventually come to realize that when he is held very gently, and only touched on certain parts of his body, he will purr, relax, and cuddle- but if he is handled in a different way, he seems to react negatively. I'm not sure if it physically hurts him to be pet in certain areas, or if he just doesn't like to be handled and is very specific about how he can and can't be touched. . My goal right now is to get rid of that ringworm once and for all and really acclimate him to being held and cuddled and loved as much as possible (or to find an alternative that works best for him, since he really does love being held when held properly). I can't see myself just giving him away to an adopter who wouldn't understand that he isn't mean - he's just requiring a little extra understanding, and hopefully with time and patience, we'll make some more progress 😽 . 📸 @justalifetime . . . . . #tinyfosterkittens #kittens #kittensofinstagram #cats #catsofinstagram #fosterkittens #adoptdontshop #fosteringsaveslives #instakitten #rescuekittens #fosterkittensofinstagram #tinybutmighty #catlover #fostercat #catstagram
