- i read this the other day and it hit me so hard that i had to share it with you, please please read it, it's extremely important: "althought research shows that vegans are on average slimmer than non-vegans, it doesn't show (at all) that all larger people lose weight when they go vegan. some people even gain weight when they go vegan. and it is definitely not just vegans who eat a lot of junk foods who struggle with their weight. some gain weight on the very low-fat vegan diets that are often touted as a guarantee for weight loss.". truth is that veganism has NOTHING to do with weight loss or the dieting culture, veganism is: a LIFESTYLE that does not cause suffering, harm or death to the animals, and allowing animals to be free to choose the way they want to live. it's about NOT eating any animal product, NOT use any clothing and furnishing made with their skins, hair, feathers, NOT exploting them as an entertainment (circus, zoos, safari parks, aquariums, horseraces or any other places where animals are kept for the benefit of humans, NOT using cosmetics or household products that have been tested on animals. it not all about the foods! it breaks my heart that veganism is often portait to be the healthiest and the most efficient weight loss diet, it can be healthy but it also doesn't have to be. i have been vegan for over two years now and all that i come across is people turning vegan because they want to lose weight *face palm*, like excuse me, it's sort of feels like large bodies are not doing veganism they right way, fuck no. veganism is compassion, not shaming and restrictive dieting. there is this propaganda everywhere thay veganism is like a miracle cure-all and claims that you'll have perfect health when you ditch animals products. body size, shape and weight are affected by numerous factors, many of which are beyond our control; ⬇continues on the comments (...)
