Want to know how to prevent those unexpected injuries? Choose exercises that mimic real life movement patterns. .......................................... I LOVE unilateral (aka working one limb at a time) and lateral (side-to-side) movements since not every human movement takes place simply going forward and back and with both limbs at the same time. .......................................... The lateral bound is a great exercise to train athletes in explosiveness, and everyday folk like me to prevent injury. Here’s how to do it 👉🏼Start by standing on one leg 👉🏼To initiate movement, load standing hip and arms back and down (think semi squat) 👉🏼Use hip and arms to generate force to jump laterally (medium and height and distance) and land on opposite foot 👉🏼Stick the landing and hold for 3 seconds, stabilizing the landing foot and leg before repeating on the opposite leg 👉🏼You should feel it working the hips and leg 👉🏼Once you can consistently stabilize and “stick” the landing for 3-5 sets of 10 reps, progress the movement by adding a mini band above the knees 👉🏼 😤Don’t forget to breath! .......................................... #moveoftheday #functionalexercise #functionaltraining #functionalfitness #fitspo #exerciseoftheday #exercises #minibands #bodyweighttraining #plyometrics #trainforlife #militaryfitness #milspo #militaryspouse
