- TROUGH THE EYES OF AN ISRAELI Join us this evening at 11PM EST / 8PM PT for an in-depth account of the history, culture and politics of Israel; given by native, Dov Shapira. Dov Shapira, was born in Israel to so called 'Jewish' parents who immigrated to Palestine. Dovs' parents came from Romania, his dad was a holocaust survivor and at the age of 18 Dov was drafted into the Israeli military where he served for three years. Dov grew up in the countryside, went to collage for filming but dropped out after two years. He worked in the film industry as a camera man assistant, left Israel in the 80's for the United States; New York and lived there for 12 years. Dov got married, had three children together with his wife and later moved his family from New York to Phoenix AZ, and built his own business as a contractor. Over the years Dov has removed the 'Jewish' label he was given and did not raise his kids to follow the Jewish faith. "I was raised on false information in regard to the birth of the Jewish state called Israel. Since the Internet became a tool of accesses to free information I became anti Zionist",states Dov. Please visit link to see Dov's beautiful craftmanship at: www.shapirabuilders.com/ Tune in for an exclusive interview with Dov shapira, hosted by Jennifer Collins: http://bit.ly/2jIUDsH #israel #interview #artistfirstradio #shapirabuilders #biography #culture

- #AZAChallenge entry: Boys Don't Cry (1999) directed by Kimberly Peirce (Stop-Loss & Carrie (remake)). A biographical crime interpretation about the murder of Brandon Teena. I believe I've had this film on DVD since it's release on the format yet I've never watched it. I'm horrible like that... Buy a bunch, watch a few, buy another bunch, and the cycle continues. With this last run for this challenge, I really wanted to focus on films that I've owned for a long time yet never sat down to watch them. This unfortunately was one of them. I watched this just last night and while knowing very few details on the murder, I sat in almost complete silence, angry with how events unfolded and also by the brilliant performances of everybody involved. Hilary Swank as Brandon was brilliant. She had this androgynous look, her feminine features masked by a terrible haircut and overly baggy clothing. Brandon wasn't a perfect person, making many mistakes prior and during his time in Falls City, Nebraska, and knowing his fate, I'm screaming internally for him to get out before it's too late. But he was in love and love makes you do strange things. Lana Tisdel (Chloë Sevigny), the object of his affections is also at a cross roads. She knows she's doomed to follow her mother's fate if she stays where she is and found Brandon as a beacon of hope. I'm a big fan of Peter Sarsgaard but he's creepy when his character JOhn Lotter obsesses over Lana and he's terrifying when he finds out that Brandon and Lana are together. There's a violent rape scene involving John, Tom Nissen (Brendan Sexton III) and Brandon that's difficult to get through and I was disgusted the way the police treated Brandon during their investigation. The murder sequence at the end of the film is also violent and heartbreaking. I don't think Boys Don't Cry is a film that I'd watch over and over but it is fantastic. There is a reason why Hilary Swank won the Best Actress Oscar in 2000 for her role. She puts her all into it and it shows. #BoysDontCry #KimberlyPeirce #PeterSarsgaard #BrendanSextonIII #AliciaGoranson #AlisonFolland #JeannettaArnette #Biography #CrimeDrama #CinefessionsPodcast #InFilmWeTrust ^M

#BoysDontCry #KimberlyPeirce #PeterSarsgaard #BrendanSextonIII #AliciaGoranson #AlisonFolland #JeannettaArnette #Biography #CrimeDrama #CinefessionsPodcast #InFilmWeTrust
- #AZAChallenge entry: Boys Don& #39;t Cry (1999) directed by Kimberly Peirce (Stop-Loss & Carrie (remake)). A biographical crime interpretation about the murder of Brandon Teena. I believe I& #39;ve had this film on DVD since it& #39;s release on the format yet I& #39;ve never watched it. I& #39;m horrible like that... Buy a bunch, watch a few, buy another bunch, and the cycle continues. With this last run for this challenge, I really wanted to focus on films that I& #39;ve owned for a long time yet never sat down to watch them. This unfortunately was one of them. I watched this just last night and while knowing very few details on the murder, I sat in almost complete silence, angry with how events unfolded and also by the brilliant performances of everybody involved.
