- Today is the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter. (It's as old as me!) My doesn't that make you feel old?! Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone came out June 26, 1997. I 💕love this franchise/fandom SO much- more than Star Wars and a tad bit more than Disney (I know Right? You're probably shocked! 😲 - Disney is RIGHT there I promise though) but I'll tell you why Harry Potter surpasses everything in the film and book world that I've loved since childhood.⚡️ You all know I was diagnosed with Leukemia at age 4 in 2001.🤒 2001 was also the year the movie version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (later Sorcerer's Stone in the USA) was released. My mom wasn't too keen about reading the books to me at first or even let me see the film as she thought I'd be too scared. 😳 I bet she did omit things as she read it to me, 📚 and I did end up seeing the movie (all of them each year they were released) 🎥 but that didn't matter. The Wizarding World was the most amazing and best world I traveled to during my 3 years of treatment. ✈️ When you go through something traumatic and life changing such as cancer, you have to have an escapism-Mine was film and the books my mother would read to me. I LOVED the worlds of these characters-Disney, Star Wars, etc. but, of all the places I've traveled to- the Wizarding World was my favorite. ✨I was friends with Harry and his friends Hermione and Ron. My favorite class was Defense Against The Dark Arts because Snape was my favorite teacher. My wand was the most amazing wand to ever be seen. I went to every Quidditch match...and more It didn't matter what round of chemo I was on or how many blood draws I had. I had a special place I could always go to. Harry gave me something to believe in and taught me that battles are worth fighting no matter how hard they might be. ✨🗡 After I was better, I found friends who felt the same way about Harry and his adventures. It was UNBELIEVABLE! ☺️😃 This beloved franchise has given me SO much. ❤️ I just want to end with this- no matter what, Hogwarts will ALWAYS be there to welcome you home. ⚡️✨ #instastory #harrypotter20thanniversary #harrypotter #hogwarts #battle #battles #love #franchise

- S O C ❄️L D | My Story • Poet, counseling, drawing, public speaking, videography, photography, barber, graphic design, leader, youth advocate, etc. They said I was cold at all of those things but believing it has always been a struggle. Sometimes I minimize. I deny. I refuse to embrace the unique abilities God has blessed me with. What would happen if I chose to fully embrace them? Deuces to minimizing! I long to be great! ✌🏾So Cold! 🌬❄️☃️ 📸 @artofhomage
