- This is where my head's been the last couple of days. Trying to engineer out 7 unique movements in this latest commission. I can see it all together, but I also have to figure out how it all comes apart (and goes back together again - about a hundred times). That's how I have to work on it - many hours of trial and error ahead. #tomhaney #tomhaneyart #wip #commission #kinetic #kineticart #kineticsculpture #automata #automaton #engineering #trialanderror #madefromscratch #measuretwice #wishmeluck #staytuned #atlantaartist #studiolife #studioflow #studio #work #stayfocused

- #Repost @ wevolverapp Test footage of the animatronic head built for Edgar Wrights "The World's End". Used during the fight sequence in the toilets. Head has 12 servos, 10 for the eye and brows and 2 for the jaw/jaw slew. The head was self contained utilising a magnetic latching battery compartment in the base of the neck, and a magnetic on/off switch buried below the skin for ease of power saving without battery removal. - "DuK - Clearly inspired by the water bird we all know and love, the common duck, DuK is found in several ponds and marsh-like areas across the world. Its quacks more closely resemble that of grinding teeth and rusty gears, thus it scares off all the marsh life within the vicinity when it goes for a morning swim. There is a strange, perpetually growing population of these duck-like robots worldwide, which begs the question: Are these automatons self-reproducing? And if so, why have they not advanced their own mechanical design to be more waterproof? Their lifespan seems to be rather short, as their internal processing unit is prone to getting flooded with swamp water."
