- When I was a child, Devonport Show was a big deal. Breeders from all over the state would travel up and camp overnight. There would be a mainland judge, the shed would be filled with goats and I was always so excited to see "everyone." There is no longer competition at the Devonport Show, but every year we take our goats for a two day display. People love goats and goats love attention, so we usually draw a crowd. The 2017 Devonport Show has been cancelled. This is a sad loss for breeders and exhibitors of not just goats, but cattle, sheep, poultry, cavies, horses, cats and more. All of these animal exhibits are free for patrons to enjoy, no ride pass necessary. Please support your local shows where you can. It may be expensive to ride every ride and buy every show bag, but the animals are all waiting for you, all for the price of admission.
